Taming The Beast
Specifically, I am referring to the beast known as Real Life Woe.
Faora here, after a break I realy wish I hadn't needed to take. Trust me, you don't want the details!
But I'm back, and with some exciting news! During my unintentional absence I was made aware of an interesting little project going on in one of the groups on SoFurry. Run by Zantal, he has a great summer project for all writers of furry fiction to check out, and I'd heartilly encourage you to do so! The following is copied from his PM on SoFurry to me:
"The basic idea is to get writers together, provide prompts/inspiration to guide writing, and also get constructive reviews. Each writer would write a story a week on that week's prompt and also review the work of others. We're hoping it'd spur writers to take advantage of the typically more free summer months, develop their writing, and develop a bit of a community. By the end of it each participant would have written 14 new stories and really developed and broadened their writing."
It's a brilliant idea, and it would only become better if we could get more people involved in it! This is a great opportunity for us to flex our creative muscles, gain some more experience, and fatten up the story count on our various accounts! I fervently believe that the best way to improve one's writing is to throw themselves into their writing headfirst, and this looks like one hell of a way to do just that!
So go on! Check out Zantal's efforts by joining his group over at http://sofurry.com/group/1045 and having a look at the project! And then, once you've got some new stories under your belt, come back here and let's all upload our stories together and offer additional critique!
It's an exciting summer ahead for those willing to dive in!

Tried to bring myself to upload my stories there a couple of times but after 30 seconds I can't take that website anymore. The project itself sounds awesome though, so gah... too bad. :(
But that's just my take on it, and everyone looks at the world with different eyes. That's the beauty of it! Still, I'd encourage you to give your eyes a rub and check it out anyway. It's a worthy project!
I can't imagine it's easy to figure out for someone new to that site (like me, and I'm trained for it) to figure out how it exactly works without help. They should resort to a very clear and minimal style without a cascade of buttons, text and icons, it would make SoFurry much more attractive and much more user friendly. :)
(Also I don't like that text for stories has to be inserted manually into a type editor on that website, which surrenders your copyright in essence since you've 'typed' it on their website. I rather stick to uploading files which have meta data on date, creation, computer and author, etc.)
Oh wait.. It's pretty hard to do it on here let alone keep a group page going.
Still, I've said it before and I'll say it again! It's a worthy project to at least check out! It's all about writers like ourselves getting involved, getting writing, and helping our fellow followers of the almight pen hone their craft. Isn't that what we're all here in this group for, after all?
Since making the move over from SF I've seen that it is a lot harder to keep up a group because there is no way for us to physically contribute by putting our own work on the page.
Would I like to see the idea in mind you have here? I sure would because I need some kind of a diversion to get me back to writing like I used to.
Writer's block is not fun so that's why I create pictures, comments, and other things to keep writing as KM and Kyell say so eloquently on Unsheathed.
Since this sounds like a great idea,
What would the topics be over? I tend to stay away from any types of series which is already on television or movies. I can write almost any combination minus a few thing I don't like like scat or anything which would gross me out.
I can do M/M, M/F, F/F and even a little bi action although I haven't really explored it yet but I really should since I am bi. Solo is also included in this.
I don't limit myself to just one gender because I feel like to be a well rounded writer you need to open yourself to all realms of this.
Groups are fine but it's the ones who open up to more then just one gender who are the true variety authors.
I'd be willing to do a write up for you since the holiday is here and I know nothing is going to happen on the job front for this weekend at least.
I'm open to this so let me know.
SWSP
We'd be glad to have you involved!!
