It's like I'm made to break them!
Hey, FA_Writers!
Faora here again, with my month-delayed journal post updating everything! Unfortunately, my life continues to spiral out of my control and pandemonium is ensuing! But that's okay, because it's just more interesting experience I can use to draw on for my writing! One day I'll write an autobiography, and it's going to sound like the most insane fiction I've ever penned. And that will be funny, considering some things I write about!
But I'm here, and about, and still taking your stories to upload to the page! Also, there's a new writing guide of mine I've had sitting on my desktop for the better part of two months now; one day, I'll get around to uploading it for everyone to see!
Last entry, I offered the group a challenge! I told you to take your characters, and push them really above and beyond the call of duty. To stress and strain them to the breaking point, and then beyond it. Of course, we should do this already! Characters, like people, are forged in the crucible of life, shaped by the flames of adversity. All stories have conflict of some form or another, and these provide the difficulty that our characters face before they can achieve their goals. So! Who rose to the challenge? If you wrote a whole little story for it, note the group and let me know! We'll re-upload it here for us all to see!
New challenge time, and this one is going to take everyone in the group working together! Less a challenge and more a little bit of fun, I'm attempting to draw everyone together so that we can work towards a common goal. That goal? Stretching our writing muscles, of course! And what better way to do that than by writing something that forces you to think outside the box?
Collaborative writing can be a slow process, slower than writing your own work most of the time. But if it's a communal effort, some real fun can be had! So that will be the challenge! In a moment, I will present a paragraph to kickstart things. The next person to comment will reply with their paragraph contribution to the budding story, and so on, and so forth! Limit of one paragraph per post!
Of course, we can't let a handful of dedicated people run away with this though, so rule the first is that you can only post another paragraph once five people have posted after your last contribution. And we can't let our underage FA_Writers miss out on the fun, so rule the second is that the story must evolve in a PG-13 fashion. No explicit content here, guys!
So, for the FA_Writers Communal Writing Challenge, let us begin:
It was an ordinary day. The sun rose from across the ocean, and her waves lapped gently at the shore. Their gentle, soothing sound reached the ears of a lone figure, whose stare stretched out across that immense, blue surface. The figure smiled from on high, with eyes that glittered with the reflection of the sapphire waves. It was an ordinary day, but one person knew perfectly well how quickly the ordinary could change.
(If you've any comments to make on the journal entry, or on posts to the story challenge, please place them in parentheses such as these! And most of all, have fun!)

An amused smirk tugged at that figure's lips, before a cat-like tongue slid across to moisten them and relish the delicious, salty air. How was it that the mind always strayed when in the presence of such beauty? Such musings always preyed on his consciousness when he should have been appreciating the simple delights that nature provided. But then, who could blame him? These tawny eyes that gazed across the ocean had seen plenty to merit such idle thought. Especially when it concerned this seductive, deadly sea.
(Excellent idea, Faora. I was talking to Scribe just the other day about trying some collab work.)

Far to the north, these same gently waves crashed upon the naked, rocky cliffs without reserve. The driving winds, the spraying mist, and the jagged rocks held a rugged beauty that nothing could truly match, not to his mind. Unfortunately, with such beauty came the inherent danger. Many ships, and their crews, had been smashed against those unforgiving rocks. Such is the nature of the sea, he thought somberly, forget for one moment what it is capable of and it will take everything from you.

"Lost in thought again?" A voice from behind shook him from his reverie, and almost reluctantly, he turned to his companion. She was a feline, like him, except she had one eye as blue as the ocean, and another as red as the first rays of sunrise. He nodded silently to her, and continued to gaze out at the ocean, as she sat next to him. "Just marveling at it all...and feeling sorry for those that forget how dangerous it can be..." He said, losing himself again to the rhythm of the waves, and the sound of them lapping languidly upon the shore.

Far out on the horizon, where sun played tricks on the eye he saw something that sadden him deeply. It was a large naval ship that flew the flags of a distant and unfamiliar Nation, the ship caught a strong head wind and was sailing straight for the rocky cliffs. A ragged breath escaped the Cat’s mouth as he placed his face into his hands, closing his eyes in his hands as sorrow for the ship filled him.
(I hope i didn't do too bad, this is my first try at something like this.)

"I...I have to help." These words escaped my mouth faster then a bullet. "You can't do it alone." The feline's tail brushed the sand softly making the particles dance around the air. The ship in the distance was sinking faster, plunging into the darkness of the abyss bellow. I stared at the ship and its flag. It was a massive ship with cannons lined up on both sides. The wood had a strange dark tint from the waters pounding againist it. I ran off towards the ocean in extreme haist to save the crew from its dreadful fate.

Swimming against the waves seemed to last forever, and it took the crew some time to spot a lone fur in the water. But as soon as I got to the deck and shook the salt from my pelt, I knew that I should've stayed on the shore. Suddenly, the ship's flag broke across my mind's labyrinth and banged me like an eel. "Lead Mister Baja to my quarters," the captain said, "I want to reward him for his, eh, heroic act." And the crew giggled, there were too many fangs. Too many, oh, Lord. Stupid feline...

"A long time I have waited to see your face again Captain Baja. Four years has it been? Although I suppose you don't go by captain anymore." The wolf spoke as if he didn't have his men chaining me to the floor. "Do you even remember me after all these years?" How did he know my name? Who was this wolf? In all the commotion I hadn't got to look at the man, but now I had a clear view of his scarred face. "M-marcus? H-how? I thought yo-" "Shhh." He said cutting me off "I will explain everything in due time old friend. But first, we have a score to settle."
