RIP John Lennon
So today is (or was, since the day is almost over) the 30th anniversary of John Lennon's murder. A very sad, unfortunate day for all fans of The Beatles and of Lennon's. I admit I wasn't alive yet when this happened, but even so I feel a sense of sadness on this day, too. I may not have been around when he was successful and making music and spreading his goodwill to the world, but I've grown to love him and the band over my lifetime. After years of being a big fan, I've learned a lot about him and the band, so it's almost like I grew up with them sometimes.
Anyway, it's a tragic event all the same, and we're all left to only wonder what John would think of the world today, or what he could've accomplished or done had Mark Chapman not killed him that night. It's a real shame and all of us who love his music and his ideals miss him greatly.

OP
I've read in recent interviews he had a list of famous people he planned to try and kill so he could "become a somebody", with Johnny Carson and Elizabeth Taylor included, but that Lennon was "the most open" so was easier for him to target. He also claims to be ashamed of himself for it and regrets it, but even so he should never be forgiven or ever expect to be. If only his suicide attempt years earlier had been successful...

We can only say "what if he was successful?" and I would've liked to have known "what if Lennon was still Around today?"
