Over here, this side of the pond, we have a nice bit of fun going on too: our feeping huge deficit and how to pay it down before we go bust.
You guys should be glad to be rid of us. Otherwise, the fees may have gone up by a factor of 500.
Now it's going up by 6k per year, but remember the payment is also changing. I'm going to be paying I think 9% of everything I earn over £15,000 per year, for you it'd be to 9% after £21,000.
But hey, at least it's a loan at practically zero interest. Unless your a 'mature student' as the system calls it, then the term is 'Fucked'.

We (as in society) keep lashing out at the new generations, higher premiums, higher costs of living, higher taxes, and worst of all higher education costs coupled with poor wages. We are just simply assuring the demise of our own future based on short sighted greed. Canada here has been crying out that we lack "skilled" workers like stuff for basic trades and how we are losing a LOT of our highly trained workers to the US and I wanna smack them and go "its because you greedy fucks sucked all their money away and you pay them shit for the amount of qualification they have!"
This whole "economic crash" that happened over the past 2 year period is just a tremor the real fun has still to come, mark my words.
We have cheap schooling, plentiful beer, and our healthcare system is only half as broken as the UK's. The only downside is being surrounded by hick rednecks, pot-smoking hippies, imitation French people, or 50+ centimeters of snow, depending of course on which province you choose.
(my one leg is stepped into those started with "N","E" and "L"... the only problem is fees... @w@)

I know how you're feeling, somehow... i can't even plan how much i will have to have when i finally may study, as our fees go from 0-1500€ per semester. In addition you may have bad luck and don't get a students flat, and will have to cover one by yourself...
*hugs* Hope, you get forward again with your plans...
They would be cheaper as if you would have to rent a "normal" one :)
