The woman at the immegration counter gave me a strangeglance: "For how long have you been planning this trip?" "Six months!" was my answer. "And you din't bother to book a hotel for the first night?"

"This is a men's rip, Ma'am. We'll just stop and stay where we like to!"

She just shook her head and placed the stamps in our passports.

Before I knew what was happening it was March 27th - my 36th birthday. We had a nice little brunch with a few friends of mine. No big fancy party at night because I had to leave for Frankfurt airport early on Monday morning.

My father always talked about his dream to travel across California. Truth is he has never been to America. I think it's one of those dreams you keep on pushing onto the next year for years and years untl you realize that you might grow too old to actually travel. So I gave my father a nod and we agreed to spent two weeks in California.

Theflight was pretty nice and uneventful. And now we are waiting at Philli-airport for our connection to LA. And then we will lookfor a nicehotel to stay at in Santa Monica.

So - if you are from Santa Monica and happen to see a father son couple that keeps on debating in a weird language - that might be me with dad.
