Finally got Power Back
Test: Top
OK, so we've been without power here in the Huntsville area since about 5:20 Wednesday night, aside from Huntsville Hospital, which got power back some time on Thursday. As of right now, we just got power back here at the house about an hour and 14 minutes ago. So almost 4 whole days without power. THAT SUCKED!!! At least there was no damage to the house or anywhere else in the area, except for a few trees that were blown down here and there.
Well, actually it wasn't all that bad. The Publix right down the street from us was running on a generator and were doing real good with business. Wednesday through Friday they weren't selling any perishables, but yesterday they started selling them again. They were selling propane tanks, ice, charcoal, and the best part was they were letting people go in and recharge their electronics. Freakin' Awesome! So other than not having hot water or lights or the ability to use the computer, it wasn't a bad experience...
... save for one thing. For those that don't know, this was my last semester before I graduate with my bachelors in biology. I was really excited. My first final was supposed to be on Thursday, the day after the power went out. So, I've been keeping up with UAH and they've made a few announcements. First, final exams have been postponed, not rescheduled, so we're not sure when they're actually going to have finals. Second, and the part that really kills me, is the commencement ceremony has been suspended as well. It was supposed to be this coming Saturday. Had my mom, brother, sister, and dad coming in from out of town. They haven't rescheduled, but they said it won't be till the end of summer. Why, I don't know, but this threw off my plans and my family's plans. It's kinda put me into a small depression and my excitement for graduation is pretty much expunged. There is some good news, though. They said that students will have the option of finishing their coursework and take the finals, or they can accept their letter grade as it stands as of April 27. That would give me five A's and one B. I'll take it.
So that's that as far as I go. Brim, Fyre, and Sodders are alright. Fyre went to his parents house. As for everything else, this is just insane. Second worst tornado disaster in US history. As of 11 hours ago, 337 dead, 246 in Alabama alone, with more bodies being discovered and thousands more injured. My mom called me late Wednesday night and told me that Birmingham got hit and I got worried 'cause a good friend of mine lives in Birmingham. Once I was able to finally contact him, I found out that not only was he OK and there was no damage to the area of town he lived in, but also that he never lost power. Lucky bastard! But seriously, I'm just glad he was alright.
So that's it then. Hope everyone else who lived through it made it through OK.

*hugs back* Thanks. So far, I haven't heard of anyone I know having been hit hard by the storm. Did you get any part of the storm?
