Murrsuits.

Okay, I have to say this: I don't understand why people have such an issue with murrsuits.
It's not enough to say, "I don't understand it, but to each their own." Oh no. People have to talk about how sick, gross, messed up, et cetera it is. I mean, really? It's something that people are engaging in behind closed doors, and it's got nothing to do with you. Why is it "gross" and "messed up?" Everyone's got something weird about them, some kind of kink or even a fetish that they enjoy. Just because you think putting on a fursuit and having sex is 'gross' doesn't mean that you're some pillar of sexual morality. It just means that it's not your cup of tea. Maybe you enjoy wearing diapers, or rape fantasies, or bondage, or some other kink that others find disgusting. Believe me... you've got one. And if you haven't discovered it yet, you just need to do some more exploring. It's there.
Now don't get me wrong, taking a sex suit in public is obviously not a good thing to do. I'm not denying that. And I certainly do worry about coming into contact with characters who wear 'shorts for no reason,' just in case. But I just don't understand all the hate people have for the simple fact that others do have sex in a fursuit. Do you think they get as bent out of shape by people who dress up like a sexy maid instead? Think about that. :| It's just a costume.
If one of my suits wound up being modified into a murrsuit by a commissioner, I personally wouldn't care all that much. Once it's in their hands, it belongs to them, and they can set it on fire for all I care. It's their loss if they do set it on fire. I would at least like to know ahead of time that they intend to modify it, though. It's just respectful to the maker to do that.
...it would also, of course, void the warranty (lol).
And for the record, no, I do not have sex in my fursuits. I don't personally find it appealing, but to each their own.

FA+

I wish you the best of luck in advance!
No they don't, not when they drag them to furcons. I see it akin to bringing a used dildo to a mall and touching people with it. Washed or not, you wouldn't want someone to touch you with their used boxers, would you?
But I mean, thinking it's gross is one thing, but there's no need to make comments about how gross it is. I guess that's kind of what it boils down to, for me.
Shrimp is gross and I won't eat it but I can still think it's gross. I'm just allowed to voice my opinions on things I like/dislike
Yeah, I guess you have a point with that. I think more specifically what bothers me is that someone mentions a murrsuit or a modification, and people will actually go out of their way to lambaste them for it. Unless someone's trying to force you to get involved in it, why bother insulting them? It's not going to change their mind about it. They won't suddenly say "Oh, you're right, murrsuits are gross, so I'll just no longer have this particular kink." Same with shrimp. :) Unless someone's trying to force it down your throat, you shouldn't run through a restaurant screaming at anyone who's eating it, just because you think it's icky.
It would be impolite for me to bring up my sex toys to you, would it not?
Then it becomes EVERYBODYS business
Because unfortunately people don't keep it behind closed doors and the media picks this stuff up and sensationalizes it. 99% of all the non-furry people I have heard mention furry in casual conversation (which has actually been quite a bit tbh) have told me that "furries are weirdos who have sex in fursuits." They think, this one fetish that a very small percentage of furries have is the ENTIRE FANDOM.
Most of the people I've talked to about furry have been under that same impression, though. It's very easy to explain that sex is not what it's all about, and that sex in suits is very rare. People are always ignorant until given the truth.
They aren't? then why did they say it in interviews?
It's not that easy in my line of work unfortunately.
Okay, so 5 people out of how many who engage in it admitted to it in an interview. But... they've got no reason to feel ashamed, really. Unless you count other people shaming them for what they like.
That and it really only benefits males. Either or its just messy I guess.
What irks me is people who sell off their suits and not notify the buyer that it is indeed a murrsuit
Everyone has a kink here or there
If it stays behind closed doors or on Xtube where it belongs, whatever. There are far worse things in this fandom than a guy who cut a hole in a costume he owns.
Like I said on that LJ entry, the exchange of money for a costume makes me look the other way. I just never, ever want to repair it :T
Yes. Exactly. Thank you. :)
Some furries are socially inept. But I don't hate on all furries because of it. ;)
people just do it. I dont really see anything wring with it.
The act doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. Just because of how hot even walking around in a suit can be. I also find skin contact much more sensual, but to each their own. I once heard somebody compare an SPH-ed suit as looking like, "a mushroom in a grassy field" haha.
Some that wear shorts for no reason, I dont find it gross to hug them or be around them because.....Think about it, If you wouldnt hug or talk to or come into contact with someone who was in a suit that has had sex in it
then why would you ever come into contact with ANY human thats ever had sex and stuff o.o I think its basically the same thing
obviously dont go out in public with sheath and balls and stuff, but if its hidden, then it should be fine o.o
MURPLE
I've had people ask me before too "Would you be mad if I had sex in the suit you made me?" and my response is "Why would I care? You paid for it, it's your property. If you want to enjoy your fursuit that way, so be it" Who am I, or anyone else to say, no you cannot or shouldn't do that. It's not illegal -shrugs-
