Microsoft .NET framework...

... has to be the biggest mess ever created by any species (artificial or organic) in any galaxy in this universe and any and all parallell universes throughout the whole of history in this or any other timelines. I'm not just talking about software, I mean anything. Everything anyone/anything has ever done (randomly or by intention). Nothing can compare to this catastrophy. I believe the .NET Framework will be the end of not only our species, but the existence and non-existence of everything everywhere, anytime. It will unravel the laws of physics, and ravel them in parallell dimensions where they don't yet exist.
The only reason future generations of all races across this universe won't be writing down Microsoft as the biggest fuckall in the history of fuckalls is because there will be no future, thanks to this complete blackhole of crap that is .NET.
EDIT: I just re-read this and I don't think words can describe this... piece of garbage. I'd have to kill thousands of kittens and gather their broken souls into some sort of phylactery, then follow the ley-lines to the heart of Mother Earth and bury the cursed amulet there, turning this Earth into a miserable dark phantom of it former self... this act would only be the beginning to the installation art I'd have to make to describe a small portion of my complete and utter loathing of Microsofts nonchalant failure. The second step would be the murder of every living creature throughout the history of the universe (by hand no less)... I suppose I'd have to build some sort of time machine, not to mention it is something I wouldn't be able to complete in my lifetime... the task would have to be carried out by my bloodline. A heavy burden to lay upon the innocent.

since the .NET is no longer comparable with the vista, right?
Is there no end to the madness?
The only thing that can stop Microsoft now are Linux programmers. Godspeed to our bearded, long-haired, nocturnal friends.
If your .NET installation is shitting you over, I recommend installing CCleaner, removing the .NET frameworks, have CCleaner clean the registry, restart computer, re-install .NET4 and restart again to load the new registry keys.
If that doesn't work, you might just as well re-install your operating system. Start fresh. Always works.
I realize this isn't very helpful. It's just that it bothers me when people complain about this stuff and I just can't relate. I've been on Windows since Win95 and I've never had any of the problems I see on message boards or other websites. I've done some crazy setups, some big projects, etc... Always worked just fine for me. It makes me wonder how these things happen.
I don't think you'll ever have any problems with .NET if you're a developer, because you have all the packages you need and whatnot. It's the end-user that has the problems. Any time a software fails to launch or whatever, I need to install some vague .NET patch. Perhaps it isn't .NET's fault, but the developers using it. I presume you can include whatever packages are needed in the install for your software?
There can be all sorts of reasons. But if it does happen to go awry, it's usually pretty screwy from the start, or just plain weird;
If you ever plan on doing a clean install(dunno how many times a key works, it might become invalid if used too much), here's what I usually do. No guarantees, but it works for me.
My process of a new instal usually goes like this:
First I go to the Control panel, go to updates and alter settings: "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them."
Then all the rest: Open Internet Explorer, download & install Firefox. Configure Firefox, then start downloading the various runtimes of different programs.
Go to Filehippo.com(which is awesome), download flash, air, shockwave and Java plugins. Btw, if you have a 64-bit OS, you'll want to install both the 64-bit and 32-bit version of the Java runtime. Some Java-based program might require the 32-bit libraries specifically while others mights not.
For .NET, I got here: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads.....0-ac39b33fd8ab
That's the client profile. If you're gonna develop in .NET4, you'll the full framework instead: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads.....displaylang=en
After that, if you need it, the DirectX libraries. You can use this program to keep your DirectX libraries up to date. Just run it once a month or 2, it'll check online for new versions and add them: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads.....a-9b6652cd92a3
And then just custom software I use. Once all my software is installed, I restart. Only after the restart do I have windows check for updates for the first time. At which point Windows Live will be offered.
