Mandatory Fun Day

I know that the title must be misleading to a few of you out there--for starters, what is "Mandatory Fun Day?"
Let me preface things with this: We do things differently in the Marine Corps--this is natural. It starts at the lowest level of work I guess, with a "you will be 'here' at such and such time, to do 'this task'." It might be something as simple as gate guard, but dammit, you'll be where you need to be, when you need to be there, even if it's to stare at a wall.
It permeates every aspect of our lives, down to the very nitty gritty parts. This, of course, means that when we want to relax as a group, You Will Be There. It's basically like your parents, or your manager yelling at you to "BE HERE AND HAVE DINNER AND LIVATIONS. OH SHIT THERE'S HORSESHOES! YOU WILL PLAY HORSESHOES AND HAVE A BLAST WHILE DOING IT. NO, YOU CANNOT RELAX IN THE MORALE CENTER AND TALK WITH THE FAMILY. ISN'T THIS FUN, MARINE?"
It singlehandedly ruined the beach for me. Same thing with horseshoes, go figure. Family fun day--BBQ, beer, et cetera. YOU WILL BE THERE AND SPEND TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY. AND GET A HAIRCUT AS WELL.
Seriously, is this retarded or is it just me?
Edit: And the mustache is still growing. A horrible, horrible work in progress.
