I want to live in NYC or at least visit, Ohio is just stale and backwards as fuck but I'm stuck here for 2 more years. Hey you guys tell me about the places where you live.....
And New York City ;;
And New York City ;;
FA+

PASS
In the city, they'll just do it behind your back. But in the outside counties, their nasty as fuck right in your face and then they wonder why they always get into fights :V
I'm white, so it's not like it happens TO me, but seriously rednecks have no tact at all. Like, I went to a school where it was 97% white and they'd talk about a whole shit ton of racist and bigot shit right in front of black people (there were no other minorities around, so it didn't happen to anyone else).
So glad I'm in college now at a good school where I'm not surrounded by idiots.
Except for family functions. My family had a going away party for my cousin who's moving to Florida and there was seriously a discussion of why it ain't right for white guys to date black girls. "They should keep to themselves and stay away from us.", etc. Also a whole bunch of other racist shit.
And it's stupid because there's no way you can make them stop. If you point out things are wrong or that you know people that aren't horrible stereotypes or something they'll just be like "Well, they must be one of the good black/gay/Mexican people, but the rest aren't like that."
:|
i miss it so much ;-;
God I hate Ohio, columbus is cool but omfg
Dogfuckers, Racists and Ignorant ass N******
>Progressive
explain
we also allow civil unions, which is just one step below marriage, which is still better than nothing.
if you're in blue counties you'll find plenty of progressive people, especially in north jersey
south jersey's pretty much georgia. jersey shore is georgia with guidos.
also all the towns along the delaware, especially in hunderton county, are quaint beautiful villages.
some other advantages to new jersey is that it is small and everything you need is really fucking close by. however there's lots of cars and traffic.
We have decent public transportation and a great train system.
On the negative side, we have some of the strictest laws in the country. on everything.
Oh?
And the cost of living?
avoid the suburbs unless you are in your 30s. we have beautiful suburbs with places really close to shop.
avoid my county, we have lots of old people and snooki.
>Shows up to a baseball game in a helicopter.
>does that, gives $150 million to rich school districts.
Nuff said. Germany.
I WANNA FLY AND DRIVE AROUND THE NURBURGRING TOO ;;
Basic is exactly what it sounds like, 8 and a half weeks of people yelling and weird things you have to do exactly right or there is more yelling. But by the end if it if you just stick through, you'll look back and go MAN THAT WASN'T SO HARD. I highly suggest you get up to PT standards before you join, I wasn't at all, and it led to sooooooo much stress. That's an 11:57 mile and a half, 45 pushups in a minute and 50 sit-ups in a minute, for dudes. You'll be doing a lot of PT during BMT, but it's way better if you can do it before you join. Trust me, haha.
As for your first base, it seems to go in sets, my whole tech school group got either Germany or Hawaii, but the next group got random states. So there's a bit of luck in that. You do get to fill out a 'dreamsheet' though, and they'll actually try to put you somewhere you put on that, if there's a spot. And you don't have to list any states. I put all overseas on mine.
If you're going after you do college you should start with two stripes, too, as an A1C. (Soon as you graduate BMT, everyone is airman basic there) So you'll get higher pay and rank than people who didn't. IIRC you actually get back-pay for your time during basic, after you graduate, too. Not sure though, I came out just a slick sleeve no-stripes. BUT I don't know much about that, I just signed for four years and with no college sooooo. You'd have to talk to a recruiter.
And I dunno what else you wanna know. XD
A lot of yelling
A lot
Lots
But yeah I got 2 years to think about it, it depends on the US job market really
Its totally looking gooHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
because it's true haha.
rednecks
really NOT as racist as fiction and the media make it out to be
but just generally full of ignorant rednecks
we get paid in maple syrup while we fight off wild moose from our igloos
as for the actual potato chip we got dat
Holla at ya boy.
By then I will be moving off campus and i'll have a apartment or somethin'
HOUSEWARMING PARTY
BUT RICK ROSS
We have the oldest art museum in the country. Samuel Colt, J.P. Morgan and Katharine Hepburn are buried here but I'm told the KKK also meet in the back of a cemetery. Despite that, it's my favorite thing abut Connecticut.
Oh, and Mianus.
About that healthcare, I dunno tbh. All I know is that I don't have health insurance personally. We pay out of pocket if I need any medical treatment. Sucks balls, man.
people can say "oh if you like that, this city is good for that. If you like this, that city is good for this... Oh if you hate this, that city is horrible for this. If you hate that, this city is horrible for that."
Its all the same, its just a matter of small things that you like or dont like that change between locations.
If you figure out how to fuck off with your "AWWWWW im bored and this place stucks" mentality and realize IT DOESNT FUCKING MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE! then you will be happy.
I've been there... i've done that... everywhere... everyday...
its lame.
and before yall get butt hurt... im just telling it to you straight.
just cause NYC is the city that never sleeps doesn't mean its the best place to be... there is no best place to be.
And trust me... NYC most definitely is not as cool as people like to pretend it is.
My suggestion is... if you plan on living in the big apple, go to the shitty side of C-bus, (if there even is one) find a flea bag motel, and imagine the room you see there, half the size it is just as dirty, twice as loud, and probably three times more expensive.
and that will probably emulate well enough your studio apartment in the "Most Fashionable City in the Country."
But Williamsburg is cool... if you can stand hipsters, art fags, and vegans. Thats probably where rent is cheapest outside the bronx.
besides big lights, and bars till 4 am.
personally the three cities i enjoyed the most, New Orleans, Dayton, and Detroit..
the most broken cities ever... but number one on the list is East Berlin... never been... i claim that just from its reputation alone.
1. Well what about those who want more opportunities? Does your rrasoning apply to them?
2. What about those who just dont fit in a given place at all? (Ex. A country cat in the middle of NYC or a flamboyantly gay hairdresser in Fargo) Should they just tough it out?
3. If your unhappy in any given place, does it mean you will feel the same anywhere?
How i feel is this... So fuck if im in a shit town with "nothing to do" and is just boring. To me you are a part of that town/state/region and if that location is boring yhen that makes you boring and tgats a sad thing to think of your self. But if you decide that you your self are the bees fucking knees and thus your town/state/region is the bees fucking knees because you potentially can have that huge an effect on your location. And if people think you are an arrogant cunt then fuck em... Tgey arent the bees fucking knees you are! And your location is thusly exempt from bees fucking knees haters too.
Roots bro, pride in your roots!
And yeah having been to both nyc and fargo as a country boy and a faggot i can say its totally enjoyable if you can find good weed. And i dont even smoke.
A. Locations dont matter its attitude that matters.
B. If i can have found baller ass relations and livins in a city ive only been in for a month at the most (most cases its far less than that) then i dont see why a fuckin kid that is the fuckin bees fuckin knees (such as kista) cant find in a long time period at a town hes been in for a couple years.
The marijuana comment involves the reality that even if the issues one doesnt have in terms of attitude are survivable through cool friends and nothing makes good friends like free green cept of course free food.
I think your broad sweeping generalizations to location affecting emotion are correct to a certain point. People matter, not location. If you feel you enjoy your community and, more importantly yourself ,in the damn Arctic good for you. I'm sure there are people that do. I can attest, from personal experience and those of acquaintances, that certain environments are more productive to reaching certain goals more than another. Industry, opportunities, and certain relations will drive people to move to a certain area.
Also, do not forget to take into account people who enjoy physically different environments. Would someone with allergies want to live in an area with drier climates? Would someone with asthma not want to live in place with frequently poor air condition? These may be "small things" to an individual who does not suffer from such problems, but it sure as hell plays an impact on the opinion of those who do.
Long story short, while someone should be happy with themselves despite their location - as they should be despite many external factors - it is perfectly normal, and I'd say even rational, to wish for a change of environment and/or location. Hell, many times, again from personal experience, it can spur major changes in life and even force an individual to form different opinions through the change in culture.
We do have pretty trees though!
But, for real, I think I'd be interested in moving to Colorado, NY, San Diego, or the San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley Area; fuck LA, I heard it smells like butt.
Btw, if you're not doing anything today, come kick it with me and Will before I leave tomorrow!
we have snow, road construction, rednecks, and road construction
WE LOVE FAY
I wanna live in Portland, but I am too poor and not hipster enough for it.
LA is my favorite place everrrrrrr.
So much frozen yogurt.
So many places to buy underwear.
I WANT SOME TIGHT PURPLE BOXER BRIEFS
kthx
fool i aint drivin to weho
And New York is fantastic. Biking through Manhattan is one of the best little joys in life, holy shit.
But I go in school in Philly. Everyone knows what Philly's like....
It's hot.
It's conservative.
End of story.
But what's really in San Francisco... really? I heard it's expensive, shockingly segregated, and the gay culture and/or club scene there is pretentious and segregated based on skin color, body type, and kink. I learned all of that from various shows on Logo TV.
You can -1 me for watching Logo all you want too.
:P
Boston is awesome, cheaper to live in than New York, and you can get to Manhattan on the bus for $15.
POW
Originally from the East Bay.
Now Silicon Valley/South Bay.
Born out of Hayward, residing now in San Jose.
It's Pretty cool, Big city with some small town feel, lots of stability compared to some parts of Cali in the ecomomic market due to the Tech industry in the area, and a slightly lower unemployment rate. i have had more opportunities here i shall say then i had in the East Bay, when in regards to jobs, experience, and big time references.
Fairly safe for a city over a million, although as a current trend within the state, the crime rate is getting higher, and the police cuts didn't help lol. East San Jose (ESSJ) and the south end of Downtown being the suppose worst parts, i seen worse else where in the bay tho.
Overall, i like where i am, it may not be the center of Everything like San Francisco, and boring at times in comparison, even a bit less poppin sometimes then Oakland (Which can be good or bad lol) but it seems like a good balance to me, my own damn playground, less crowds, etc.
Swag.
