My Thoughts on "Heaven" and the means of getting there

Ill be completely honest, I don't really believe in the concept of heaven or whatnot. But some of the means of people I hear these days seem to revolve around this....
"If I do good, give god money, help children then ill get to heaven etc"
Isnt this the opposite of what god(s) (space whatever) whats us to be, some greedy selfish assholes? OH THE ONLY REASON IMMA DO GOOD DEEDS IS TO GO TO SOME CLOUDS WITH OTHER STUFFY SMUG DOUCHEBAGS. I mean whatever happened to, im going to do this because its the right/nice thing to do, fuck a reward. Shit replace heaven with attention or fursuits. I mean id rather be in hell or something knowing I selflessly helped my fellow man than be in heaven for a selfish reason.

Like "Love your neighbor as yourself" is the "MAJOR" commandment in my faith (roman catholic), and basically I was told that it means that you have to do acts of good and like... ya know, actually care. You can't just throw money places to fulfill your conscience and your good-o-meter (although I'm sure the church doesn't complain when you do!). You help those people and creatures that really need it, like those old folks who don't have anyone to care for them, and barely any charitable monies, because less face it, helping children is more glamourous.
I'm not sure that heaven exists, or that hell exists. To be honest, my current favorite view of the afterlife is that you get exactly what you want... for the rest of forever. If your wants tend towards more selfish things, you'll never be truly satisfied. If your wants are more selfless, you will find yourself fulfilled and happy. Your guess is of course as good as mine, seeing as neither of us are dead!
I guess it is fair to note that even though I am a religious person, I am greatly opposed to folks choosing a religious path without THINKING about what they are doing, QUESTIONING those beliefs, ACCEPTING other people's choices, and being willing to LISTEN to criticism and other's points of views. Organized religion is organized by humans, who are by nature quite selfish. I figure the big wigs in charge with the money kind of run lots of churches into that view that dumping money at a problem equals a charity greater than stopping by the side of the road to pick up litter, visiting a jail, or something.
Wow... that's a long response, haha. Sorry for rambling!
*fist-pump for another Roman Catholic*
As a Christian it really bothers me some people think that way. But what bothers me more is the uptight Christians
who take bible/life way too seriously. Who are you to say homosexuality is wrong and people will go to hell? Bullshit.
Hate the sin, not the sinner. Besides God doesn't dislike homosex for any moral or cleanly reason. The only reason
he has a problem is because it doesn't make babies and it goes against his commandment to "Go forth and multiply"
=/ Go figure right? Yet there are hypocritical Christians who hate on
LBGT people and act like they are ooooooh sooo horrible. God loves everyone and so should they. Gosh, I'm not the best
Christian in the world but I know my basics better than the uppity goody two cents who go to church every Sunday...sheesh

I cannot agree more with this... trying to help someone better their life should not come with personal attacks or slights.
