well, this is in the vein of people who don't think that blacks can't be racist towards whites, since whites enslaved them, demeaned them and stopped them (and still do stop them from) progressing up the economic ladder. Like that racism and sexism is a top of the privilege skyscraper downward, and that it cannot be reversed since the have nots have justified reasons to subsequently hate a group who has been oppressing them.

I dunno honestly. I can understand bottom-up prejudice over top-down prejudice. I think both misandry and misogyny are bad, but I don't think misandry is as bad as misogyny. Historically, men have oppressed women since the dawn of time, and it's only really within the last 50 years that women have somehow been able to obtain some sort of social equality. Let's not also forget the rampant plagues of domestic violence (which is overwhelming skewed toward male on female violence), rape of women, the sexual objectification of women in the office and workforce, among other things. If anything, misandry, in my opinion, is reactionary to misogyny. It's not right to include all men as being horndogs, but when women are generally treated by many of the men they know as a fuckhole with legs, well, outliers seem irrelevant I suppose.

If she's being a bitch and deserves to be called a bitch, that's one thing. I think what Kitstaa is talking about is when people make unfair generalizations about an entire gender, IE it's one thing to call one bitchy female a bitch, it's another thing entirely to call women 'bitches' as a whole. If someones being an asshole to you and you point out to them what an asshole they're being, good for you, but if you're going around being a dick to people in general and making unfair generalizations then that has nothing to do with being politically correct and everything to do with being an asshole.

some people are just... you know, assholes. i don't think they legitimately are actually HATEFUL people, they're just saying shit to get a reaction out of people. if i weren't so anxious and awkward, i'd probably be one of those people!

It's all about context. I call my mates faggot all the time. Do I use it in everyday speech? No. Some people feel that phrases like 'Bitch' are degrading, and that using terms in a deragatory manner, like calling someone a pussy, as if having a pussy and being female = weak just end up contributing to gender inequality. I can see where they have a point. While I don't think it's worth feeling hatred towards others because they use certain terms, I do feel that there are enough words in the english language to make it unnecessary to use those particular types of deragatory and disempowering terms in every day social settings.

Amongst close friends who know you well enough to know what you mean, fire away. When push comes to shove, they ARE just words. I certainly feel that if someone feels the absolute need to use them, they should have every right to. They just get to be the ones left standing alone when everyone else around them decides they'd rather not stick around and listen to them.
