But I'm just thinking about artists in general, I wouldn't want to see anyone get so discouraged that they feel they have to sell their work "cheap" know what I mean?

I think it's to drum up interest.

But yes...it is sad.

"Cheap" is an attention word. Cheap ranges from $1 to $50 depending on how you play with the word. It makes the reader think "Hey, I'm getting a deal!" even if it is the same price you would normally sell something. A standard buyer would look at these two messages and generally choose the one that says "cheap", if based on no other criteria.

"Taking commissions $10"
"Cheap commissions, $10"
