Damn right! In China, many people take pride in their ability to climb over the Great Firewall. That may be coming to the US soon if this fascist legislation passes, but you are correct - the internet was designed to support workarounds. It was designed with grants from DARPA to survive global thermonuclear warfare, which would have been a lot bigger problem than SOPA. Thank you very much for your links.

Pretty much how I knew it would go down, in case SOPA posses. Tech people are far smarter than the geriatricians in the Senate and House. They are trying to control that which cannot be controlled.

Its more accurately pressure from groups with money, like the MPAA and RIAA - basically, the entertainment industry.

They spent so many years with their heads in the sand and not working with, and embracing the technology of the internet. Where they could have spent the time to do this so they could legally protect their rights, they still fail to do so. Their only thought process now is to support and tithe politicians into bringing this bill to pass so they can kill what they see as a threat.

I think it's actually a lot bigger than just trying to stop piracy and protect copyrights...to me that's just an excuse so they can finally obtain full control over all forms of access to information that could be used against them. >=\

Oh I agree - most any representative would have, in normal conditions looked at this as the attack on the first amendment and deep sixed it, but with the numbers that have signed on, you know theres ulterior motives somewhere under the surface.

SOPA has been taken down - tabled by Congress. But like all real monsters, it will be back.
