I was ordering a pizza and sticking Fellowship of the Rings in my DVD player, promising to myself I was going to make the coming year the best of my life.

Best may have been an overstatement, but it's been perhaps the most important. I gained a lot. I lost a lot. I experienced and I grew in daring new ways as a person.

I just put in my order with Pizza Hut. I've dusted off my old DVDs. We're settling in on the couch together, and this year we promise each other that the coming year will be even better.
