So yeah, end of year inventory sucks
So the last few weeks has been hell for me at work and such. We were cranking away pulling 12 hour work shifts and all of a sudden it's like we hit a wall and everything just came to a crashing halt. We went from having 300+ modules on hand to only having around 50. Big drop off, the ended up cutting us back down to 8 hours and we started inventory prep.
Here's where it gets annoying for me, 12 hour shifts I can handle, hard work but it pays off the bills quicker (my car is going to be paid off a full 4 months early with the OT I've been getting) For the company we have 4 buildings. EPS storage, warehouse for chemicals, stock room supplies, and of course manufacturing. I was told that each building would have one person responsible for it. Fair enough when you also realize that anyone that fucks up their building will be fired for it. So we have roughly a $10 Million inventory total and we were allotted a variance of 0.5% roughly we could be off by $50,000 and still not get in trouble, that's between ALL the buildings.
I was stuck with the EPS storage building, first off its a 45 minute drive to that building in my own car (only good part is I was paid for the mileage so I milked about $200 out of them for 5 trips) I completed that, and lucky for me the auditor that went down with me for the counts trusted me. he counted 1 item logged that he counted 12 out of the 31 categories and that I passed 100%/. Then Friday I'm being told I have to do the warehouse and stock room buildings. Ok so much for a different person per building so no 1 person was overwhelmed with shit. Completed both those buildings in one day, had the audit counts, no such luck with getting the same auditor as the EP building. Was found to be off by $4,000 much below the allowed limit. Then I was told I was working Saturday with one other person so I could do the manufacturing building.
So it broke down to me being the lead person on all the buildings. Makes me wonder if someone is out for my job or if they were just impressed with the EP counts since for the first time ever since I was working there they were considered dead on. Well over all with all that stress and BS I had to go through the total inventory was only off by the $4,000 for the warehouse building. Not bad, I got to keep my job since I was far under the allowed variance. Just rather pissed at the added stress and shit they put me through for the few weeks of prep.
There's my end of year rant. Hope everyone survived the holidays and had fun.
