well once you are no longer a child birthdays rarely are too big a deal for a lot of people. if it wasnt special hopefully at least it wasnt a bad day? and really any day we have is a good day since we only have so many

I celebrated my 60th today. People don't make a big deal of them as much and you have to bring your own balloons. Sometimes just having someone notice is enough.

Yea, some folks will call me childish expecting someone to do something for my birthday. 52yrs old and I don't remember a birthday thing happening since I haven't had friends since moving from Marin County. My birthdays are always alone but just online "happy birthday" notes.

Such is life. Yea, so I'm childish, we all have the right to be like that on certain things!

Yeah I know what you mean. It's sometimes so easy for people to gloss over something's and deam them petty or childish. Especially when they have had different experiences. What may seem petty to one may be important to another (for their own reasons). I'm never one to say if one thing is petty or not that's for each person to decide. All I know is after spending 42 birthdays alone , yeah sue me for wanting someone to at least notice. Personally I haven't had much of a support base family or friend wise most of my life so little things like this that most people take for granted tend to be important to me.

Sorry to hear about your situation and trust me when i say I know exactly how you feel. Hinestly, I don't think it's petty or childish at all for some one to want at least one day out of the year to feel loved and remembered. I don't think that's asking too much. *hugs*.
