Some of what I see....Makes me ashamed to be a human....Homosexuality and transgenderism have been shown in the animal kingdom, and seems accepted.....Why is it so hard for human beings to just say "life your life the way you wish, and enjoy it?" and leave it be....

I think a lot of it has to do with the negativity the media and church has put on all of the LGBTQ community over the years. Consider my parents, 64 years old this year, they grew up when the movement for LGBT rights was strong and in your face. They fear it to this day. The idea that this will 'gays' will destroy a county is very powerful and deeply seeded in their minds. A lot of people in power are these same age group, who look at this as an illness, and some kind of sexual fetish. I think things are slowly starting to change, even in the last 8 years or so a lot has, and good people are still fighting for the rights of all LGBTQ children, teens, and adults. That gives me hope.

I'm just....at a loss for words.

Close to home, indeed. All too similar to my own experiences in high school. These kids needed someone long before now, and having faculty sweep everything under the rug sickens me.

I will see to it that things improve. As long as we're here, it is our job as well as theirs to stand up for not only ourselves, but those victimized kids, oft with nobody to turn to. There is no such thing as "too small" in cases like this.

I am tired of standing idly by and seeing story after story of teen suicides, LGBT or non. No child should have to feel anything other than safe in their school, and it is the duty of those staffmembers to uphold that. Bullying is never something to be taken lightly, no matter to whom or the kind of bullying. This needs to be stopped, and the sooner, the better.

This goes for every student in every school of every level. It is about time their voices are heard, but it will take much more than this. We all must help them as well.

I do feel that sense of responsibility for those younger than ourselves. I am thankful for the youth focused trans support groups in the local area, they supported me when I was younger, and I am hoping some day to return the favor.

It truly is upsetting. I never came out in high school. In some ways you could say I was lucky not to. I cannot imagine being under that kind of constant assault.

no one picks on people for being gay or anything here in canada, thankfully. but i have a gay button cause i identify as male. no one says anything cause they all see me as a she cause of my biological sex. but i identify as male. only my friends know im trans and call me he.

Where I do not agree with sinking to their level, I understand your outrage on the article. Not all Christian fundamentalists are terrible people who wish to oppress others. Example would be my own father (a christian fundamentalist ), who has taken great steps to come to terms with me and my transition. Those however that are oppressing others are going off of outdated and often misleading information (some times intentionally misleading) to gain what they feel will "protect" their children. As if you can catch this if I sneeze on you.

Just keep in mind that not all Christian Fundamentalists are out there trying to oppress LGBT, and that we should not damn others to hell as it is not our job or theirs.

Well, some will become more reasonable, and I'll change my judgement toward the few of them then.
But most of them, and all their system, are flawed and horrible, and if I don't wanna obey, I won't.
