Thanks, fiwi. It is an important day and we should express ourselves more and more as each year brings about this day again.

Why does this need a specific day? All setting up a day like this does it say to the world "hey we're different from you!" yes I agree it's a good thing to educate people when we can [if we're comfortable] I just don't feel we need a super special day just for it. It should just be an everyday thing.

Because its about letting people know you exist. That you are people. It can foster understanding, the apread of knowledge, and it can cause people with the same issues to be motivated and seek help, etc.

The everyday thing doesn't do that quite as well. Suffering in silence doesn't either.

Creating specific days helps create a community effort to push forth a signal boost for these important issues. It encourages others who maybe aren't as comfortable to step outside of their comfort zone and talk about it as well. It creates more awareness, which we need. As well, not everyone feels comfortable doing it as an everyday thing.

The truth is, we are different from others. We experience something unique, and where as that can be painful sometimes, it is who we are.

I do think it is awesome that you can share that awareness with others as an everyday part of your life. Just know that when communities come together to make awareness on a particular day, it can have a bigger impact as a whole.

It's like Black history month. Yeah-the world shouldn't need a month just for black people. It shouldn't be necessary to 'remember' black people exist but given the fact that there are still plenty of folks who would rather they not exist it's important to remember they do. It's important to acknowledge their contributions to the worlds culture and the struggles they've been through etc.

Maybe some day we'll get to a point where a month isn't necessary. That would be cool but till then it's important. Same deal here. We shouldn't need a day to remind people that people who are trans exist but since there are so many folks out there who would rather the trans community disappear it's important folks remind them that people who are trans exist and that their lives matter.

I am openly trans every day. I have educated a lot of my friends about it, and classmates. Surprisingly, people in Oklahoma don't care much, lol.

I love all of you.
It's nice to be in a furry community of other trans folk.

Last year I put off coming out on this day. Almost did it again, but NOPE! Just outed myself on Facebook! Wheee! I need a drink.
