Exhausted, but striving foward!

Well, my first week of veterinary assistant externship is done. 5 more weeks before I do my exit interview with my school!
I'm grateful because I've learned so much in my first week! I work in the surgery area of the shelter and we deal with lots of spay and neuter cases. We can have a lot of animals in one given morning. Lots of restraining animals and prepping for the surgery table. I've learned how the machines work, vaccinating and recovery. My last part of the day is usually housekeeping duties like cleaning up the suite, making instrument packs and cleaning out the smelly kennels. It's a huge shelter so there's lots to do. My school requires 240 hours of externship to finish. So, my "shifts" are 7:30-3:30, to get my daily 8 hours and 40 hours for the week.
In addition, I'm also still working my regular job at the Hard Rock ABQ as a guest service agent. So, I'm 7 days a week with both things going. My plate is full, but I'm excited to finish and get my certification! I'm so glad to have gotten to know and learn so much! The team is very helpful, too. I'm blessed to have the chance to do this.
Those to who I owe commissions, I will start them soon when I have more energy and time. Thanks for understanding!
