Can I recommend some songs for you all?
A while back, every journal entry, I used to recommend songs that I think are noteworthy and worth jamming or slow grooving to.
With the lack of art this year on my part, apart from a huge crossover piece, I wanted to stir up some interest on a different level. Please listen to these songs and give me your two cents. These are songs I just started listening to, or have listened for a while. I hope you can appreciate my eclectic tastes! :)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaMBag… << Janelle Monae-Dance Apocalyptic. This song has a unique soul and dance vibe to it. Something like Prince mixed with Diana Ross. Beyonce wishes she could be like this chick!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IRIP-… << Katie Melua-I Will Be There. This track is off her upcoming album, Ketevan. Maybe you might've heard of her? She's an angel with a voice from the heavens. This song was done in honor of the Queen's Coronation Gala this year, and it's a moving piece that's destined for greatness! I'm excited because I pre-ordered the album with a signed postcard!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Oet5D… <<Gabriella Cilmi-The Sting. She's finally making a unique comeback after disappearing off the music scene for a while. This smoky number has her crooning in a manner beyond her years. I wish her continued success! This track is a grower, but it's unlike anything in the market today!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CxTAY… <<311-Gap. I love this band! Saw them live in 2011 with friends and it was an amazing night! They have such energy and enthusiasm for what they do. This track has received a lot of play counts on my Ipod/Iphone for a while now. It's got that vibe that makes you wanna jive and jump! It's a B-side. It's proof that some B-sides should've been album tracks!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyZ2qT… <<Slightly Stoopid-Wicked Rebel. I became a fan after a former buddy of mine introduced me to this band back in 2008. I became hooked on their grooves and jams. Much in the vein of 311, they're all about making you wanna go to the beach and light up a spliff. This track is one of my favorites of theres. It's a jam off their 2003 effort "Everything You Need".
Enjoy friends! God Bless!
In other news, I came back on Monday from my visit to Toronto. My first time in Ontario, although I've been to other provinces in Canada before. Awesome city! I was visiting some friends from ships and it was an amazing journey! Went to Niagara Falls and hit up the CN Tower. I'm blessed to have friends all over the world. Reality bites though, and I was hit with it hard when I got back, but hey, you gotta live, right??
