Sheba's life updates:
BIG NEWS GUYS.
Going back to school in January for Game Art & Animation.
I just got offered a new, full time job, working at a portrait studio. Obviously took it. I love petsmart, but it's time for my life to change. I didn't want to leave, and I'm actually kind of scared. But I'll be okay. I start the new job at the end of this month. I only have to struggle for a few more weeks. :)
Updates on Sugar!:
I took her to the vet today! Thankfully it's not mange like we all originally thought. They did a skin scrape for free for me to say thank you for taking her in and saving her life. ;u;
List of current ailments:
- Eye infection
- Skin infection
- Yeast infection
- A very, very bad case of fleas (which I knew)
- Malnourished, she only weighs 66 pounds and you can definitely see her bones.
The mix of the infections, fleas, and malnourishment is whats causing her to lose her fur and why her skin is so tender and itchy. They gave me antibiotics among another medication, and also some flea and tick medication for her. (I was due for my boys monthly treatment too, so that worked out well)
This morning she was covered in fleas on her bare skin. Now she's got absolutely 0 fleas on her, and we've given her a very gentle wash down with oatmeal bath to soothe the itch. It's seemed to help a bunch.
Best part? The receptionist at my vets office said she looked familiar. She's glad I found her and I'm taking care of her properly, like the owners weren't. She thinks she saw her in the office last week. It doesn't take a week of being lost for a dog to look as bad as she did monday night.
I'll be taking pictures of her in the morning to track her progress back to health.
I'll post them here every other day so you can see the difference. Reign and I are documenting and getting receipts and statements of treatment for EVERYTHING to build a case for animal cruelty charges, just in case the owners come forward. (The vet had to take my information and send it to animal control so they know I have her and didn't steal her, and they are allowed to contact me at any time if the owners ask for her, which I understand.) But no, she won't go back to the original owners if I can help it.
One of the receptionists starting crying because Sugar looked and sounded so miserable. But we have a followup in a week to see if she'll need any more meds and to get another full run physical. If I have enough money after rent, I'm going to get her bloodwork drawn and see if they can find out how long her toe has been broken, because she's still limping on the leg but she's got no other problems with the leg otherwise. Without xrays they can't tell.
So, if you still have a dollar to spare, it'll go directly towards her and you'll get art out of it. Xrays and bloodwork are not cheap, plus her meds were expensive too, and I can already tell you she'll need more. But the good news is, she's going to be alright in the long run. :)
also great to hear his not mange and that its all treatable and she'll be alright =)
And yes, it really is. I'm so grateful. But I managed to get a flea or two in my house because they were that bad on her. ;n; Thankfully all of my babies have prevention on them. :)
Eh yeah, that's not good but to be a bit expecting when that happens. but at least all the others like you said had their prevention and now sugar is all clean =)
*sings the little 'their aint no bugs on me' commercial* lol
