I own a cockatiel, but this goes for all birds: Expect messy! lol My bird LOVES shredding things and making a mess. She's also very noisy and while budgies aren't as loud as my girl, if you get a good one, they're very cheepy. :) But despite the mess and loud rees, I'd never give up my Sprite. ☜(˚▽˚)☞

I have to agree very heavily with what Keeshaba said. Birds are very messy. Budgies arent as noisy as say a cockatiel but they can be. When you look for a bird, you need to find one that picks you. and when you do get one that picks you, make sure to check its age, appearance and overall outlook. does it look like its happy and attentive? or is it the shutin?

Budgies can be very hand friendly BUT, how many animals do you have in how big of a space? where do you plan on putting the cage? And most importantly do you have access to a bird friendly vet that you can run emergencies too?

There are tons more questions to ask but thats after the first questions are answered.

I'm got my two dogs, one of which has taken to being outside most of the time (though since we have to keep Sugar outside he's been inside recently). 3 little kittens that are only allowed to roam free when we're home, and two of which are afraid of anything that moves. They won't even go near the fish tank. v.v So my other animals won't be a problem. They've got plenty of space and the ones inside are insanely mellow.
The cage is going downstairs, in my 'dining room', because that's where I spend most of my time. I'm not going to put the poor thing upstairs where it has no chance of socialization and where the temperature fluctuates.
Also, my vet is bird friendly and it's literally a few blocks down the road.
