Grad School
So it's official, after a long consideration, weighing the pros and cons, I've decided to try to get into grad school.
I'm currently a junior studying computer engineering, Tau Beta Pi member, 3.87 GPA (4.0 if you exclude irrelevant electives), in the process of declaring myself a double major in physics; it'll tack on another semester but I figure it's worth it. With any luck I intend to go to grad school for, you guessed it, physics.
I've begun studying for the GREs (both the general and the physics test) because I figure, you can't start studying too early.
What will I do with a PhD in physics? Great question, teach probably. If you're curious what my areas of interest are I'll tell you, but be warned they sound painfully dry to the uninitiated.
Anyway, any grad school furries on here that could give me some advice? How tough was it to get in? Should I start chumming it up with my professors? How hard is the GRE? As the first person in my family to have gone to and graduated from college (got an associate in visual art before deciding I hated art and wanted to be an engineer, long story) this is all uncharted territory for me.
Also, I enjoy talking about myself... if you didn't pick up on that.

GRE's are interesting. I did not have to worry bout the physics aspect of things -cuz math is evil- but it was definitely a challenge. I was fortunate in that I had a glorious burst of intuition kick on right in the middle of the first major word/logic problem and rode that wave for quite a ways and got over the sense of worry that I had come in with. Consider it another test, and do not let it consume all of your thoughts.
G'luck! Sounds like it'll make for an interesting few years for you!
