Video Game Meme
Hey everyone and anyone. School's been going well. My favorite class is easily Physiological Psychology. We learn a lot, and much of it is random knowledge ranging from emergency medicine to some mental disorders to the gender differences. It's a lot of fun and the reason I get up MWF. Anyway, been a while since I've done a journal, so I'm gonna do something fun! The Video Game Meme stolen from
Leafthornton!
1. When did you first become interested in video games?
I first really got into video games in first grade when my friend brought over his N64, and introduced me to one of my favorite series, Legend of Zelda
2. What was the first console you've ever played with?
The first console was either an N64, or a Gameboy Color.
3. What games did you like playing when you were younger?
As a youngster, my life revolved around Zelda, Pokemon, and Super Smash Bros.
4. Name up to three video game characters you like and why.
Amaterasu Okami-How can you not like a Japanese goddess reincarnated in the form of a dazzling white wolf, traveling with a hilarious sprite in a land of fantastical caligraphy-style graphics!
Sly Cooper-A super suave, charming racoon thief that has all the skills!
Glados-I love how sadistic and funny she is! Always there to make you feel like you are worth less than the dirt you stand on. She simply wants revenge, and to further the cause of science! A true role model
5. Name up to three video game characters you don't like and why.
Most of the NPCs in Skyrim-They all have this effin annoying attitude that they are completely badass and you aren't worth fighting, and they are incredibly flat in personality. I have yet to meet one humble man. And the f***king kids!
Nix-From Infamous 2. I can't stand her clothing, her powers are disgusting, and don't even get me started on that grammar!
People who think COD is the best thing ever. Not to say they aren't fun from time to time, but all the games are pretty much the same, and everyone gets way to into it and swears like 10 sailors. Really annoying.
6. What is your most favorite console and why?
Only played the Wii U once, but it was a riot!
7. What is your least favorite console and why?
I don't like Sony Playstation (I like some of the games, but not the council) because they continuously slack off on some of the features, don't have backwards compatibility, and most of their games are about making a flat character that is simply as badass as possible.
8. What type of games do you typically like to play?
I like adventure games and games you can play with friends (that don't ruin you're friendships)
9. What genres are your strongest/weakest to you?
My strongest genres are Pokemon and some adventure games. I'm not very good at side-scrolling fighters.
10. What is your most favorite game?
Okami is definitely my favorite game of all time. It was beautiful, hilarious, and, perhaps most importantly, emotionally engaging. Not too many games that do that.
11. What is you least favorite game?
Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future for a ton of reasons. First, being a dolphin, you breathe air, and the majority of levels are in underwater caves or machines, and you are dealing with . Second, the game is too dark to see anything. It helps to turn the brightness of your TV up to 'Sun in the backyard' level...kinda. You can use sonar for a map in the caves, but that takes extra air. The maps also didn't show depth, so when it crossed over, you couldn't tell which way you were going. Attacking most of the enemies hurts you. The controls are difficult to get used to. Health is in the form of fish, which are very hard to catch, and some poison you until you die. The enemies are freakin' aliens! WTF!? Most of them hide very well, shoot homing missiles, and can't die. Some of the boss fights were cool, but didn't allow one teeny weeny screw up, or you're dead. Just an awful game, and I want my life back. On the plus side, you could tail walk on the surface.
12. Do you like to play single player or multiplayer?
Either, depends if I'm with friends.
13. What was your most memorable moment in a game?
There are tons, mostly with friends, but one of them is beating Okami. I can't listen to one of the songs without crying. Also, Minecraft and philosophy nights with friends!
14. What was the funniest moment in a game you played?
Have had tons, mostly involving Smash Bros. One of the more recent was with the Wii U. We played with the 'take a picture of you to make a Mii' feature for an hour! One of my friends looked like a stoner!
15. What video game moment made you sad or depressed?
Everything in Ecco. Did I mention the plot was written by a sci-fi writer, and the levels are in the dankest, darkest, filthiest water. In the 'Human World' levels, its as if they melted Forest Green crayon and filled the ocean. The narration was depressing, the final boss was depressing (btw, you're in the chest cavity of the alien queen, ramming its heart before it fills with blood and you either dissolve or drown).
16. What were some of the more frustrating moments you've had while playing video games?
Everything in Ecco. Some of the timed runs in Sly Cooper 1. And the water temple in Majora's Mask. And running across 4 planets, back and forth, in Metroid Prime Corruption.
17. When you play online, do you tend to talk a lot or play quietly?
People can't hear me, and I try to forget what they say about my mother.
18. Ever played in tournaments or won any prizes?
Only with friends.
19. Do you get any merchandise involving games (posters, hats, etc.)?
Guide books! and posters that come in guide books.
20. If there was one thing you would like to do that came from a video game, what would it be?
That's a toughy. Probably do all the super sneaky thief moves from Sly Cooper, and be able to come up with one-liners.
Hope everyone has been doing well! Let's hear your video game preferences!
