Concepts of understanding I
What if it's not the "complexibility" of life that causes us trouble to understand the world around us, but the concepts within our mind that are just not compatible? At least in a way our minds can grasp more as it is now.
Or in other words: even with the tool of scientiffic method you still need to ask the "right" questions, you need to know "Where to look at" and start to collect data ect. .
Ok, maybe I have to start at the beginning. ^v^
Some time ago I stumbled over this video online that tries to explain dimensions, in a way we have at least a chance our mind grasps enough of it to start thinking. You can find the English version here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqeqW3g8N2Q If you want to come along with me on this "mind-journey", please give it a look. Maybe look it even twice or more (I watched it several times now and still feel I miss something important)
Let's focus on the example with those "Flatlanders" for now: remember how they might percept a balloon? Did you notice "information" was lost from their perspective? (Details about the balloon form)
Now let's transfer this to us "3d-beings" and our understanding about higher dimensions. What kind of "information" ist lost for us when trying to understand higher dimensions? How much do those "losses" add up in lack of understanding with progressing (in mind) through the dimensions?
And just to make sure I'm not alone: anyone else feels this is mind-blowing in some way? Something within me says that this is scratching on the rules of reality itself and how we percept it and identify ourselves within what mankind defines as "real"
Final thought: how is this relevant in our daily lives? Well, I think on one hand it is not for you can live on very well without this kind of thought-experiment.
On the other hand I personally belong to the beings no longer satisfied with some of the answers I get that try to explain the world we live in.
Trying to think "out of the box" and target your mind on concepts beyond common knowlege always was and is what brings along _change_ and there is a lot in this world I would love to change for the "better", even if that just means my understanding of the concept "better" shifts.
Maybe the first serious step out would be to leave the concept of "Duality". No more "right" and "wrong" and no more judging. It takes far too much of our time and energy.
Or in other words: even with the tool of scientiffic method you still need to ask the "right" questions, you need to know "Where to look at" and start to collect data ect. .

Yes, there's a lot of information lost about the higher dimensions because we have trouble perceiving them. I think that it's good for people to see these kinds of things so that they realize that there's much more out there than we know.
One of the most interesting things that I loved about philosophy classes was the shift from the greek philosophers to the present ones. Back in ancient Greece, the world was only what they knew. Everything was centered on what the world around them looked and felt like because the only things we knew were the things we could sense. Now people have machines to bring other information and signals into our range and expanding our world. We know there's more stuff out there so we guess at it more. This is one of the ideas that brought about possible/many worlds theory (his 5th dimension, if i recall correctly). It's quite an amazing thing to see how far things have come once we realize there's more than just what we know out there in the real world.
Yes, and I'm very curious about where it will go.
Talking in "gamer" language I feel we are far from "end-content", mankind just started to percept and understand. ^v^ Maybe we're in the "tutorial" here :> Would explain a lot of things for me.
Of course there is even more detail lost by simplyfying, but as a start to ponder beyond our horizont it's very nice.
