My favorite part of the current season is how they managed not to screw up Brienne. She's such an atypical character, falling out of one trope before defying another, and the casting is just about perfect. Then again, after nailing characters like Tyrion and Samwell, I should have been expecting it. So far, the only cast member that doesn't quite fit is the new Mountain, and I think that's more to do with how we've seen him most recently. Though I agree, that's not at all how I pictured the Unsullied.

I finally got caught up with Boardwalk Empire as well, and all I can say is, "for the love of god and your own soul, do not make Richard Harrow angry."

Brienne is really great. They found an amazing actress to play her. I though the "reveal" on the fact that Sapphire isles is not named for all its money was really poorly written though, with her just blabbing about it full bore so the audience wouldn't miss it. Nobody in real conversation would need to speak like that.

I didn't notice the Mountain at all, TBH. Which scene was he in? :C

Richard Harrow is my favorite character. I thought he was just going to be a bit player, but it's clear that there's a lot there for him in the story. I also really liked his interaction with the drunk old vet when he was covered in blood at the guy's doorstep.

I dunno, given who she is talking to and what she is saying, it made sense. It was more of a knightly declaration of truth, meant to come across as a testament rather than simple conversation. The show has underlined bits like this before, particularly when it comes to saying orphans a hundred times in the same season (*ducks the spoilers*) but I felt this one was more in character.

The new Mountain was at Harrenhal with Tywin. He's easier to miss because he's much longer in the face and with that armor, it gives him this exceptionally lean look. He's got the height, but he's not at all like the original Mountain who was more of a blockier sort.

That scene, and the scene which lead to it, are some of my favorite Boardwalk Empire moments, and maybe my favorite bad ass moment in general. Especially that bit about not coming home looking like "that." And you just knew, when Harrow got tossed out that something was going to happen, something nasty, and they delivered on that promise, beyond all expectations.

It took me a while to realize who is playing Mance but it is the same guy who played Daniel Plainview's right hand man in There Will Be Blood. Also, you are right about Varys, he never deals with that sorcerer again after he is cut in the books. My only issue so far was that they seem to be revealing a lot of Little Finger's plots where in the book he was so masterful with them. O well, he still has 2 major things to be revealed in his plotting so I suppose they are saving up for that.

The reveals have been a little fast for me. Especially with the Barristan reveal coming so quickly. I think part of the problem is that they haven't really covered the fact that the Aerie has been untouched by the war and is in a relative position of power because of it.

Its realllyyy good. And they do a great job (mostly) following the book. They also use a lot of dialogue from the book verbatim which is great, but what they craft whole cloth is still good.
