Bark For Life: Steps for the Cure 2013 Review
12 years ago
Ok I wont be such a procrastinator on this one....
Saturday was Bark for Life in Anoka, for those not aware the general consensus from Relay 2 years ago was that any relay during the Summer is pretty much either A) Too damn hot or B) Too close to a major local convention or large Furry con.
So it was decided when I went looking and after a reccomendation (cant remember who) to check out a Bark for Life. there was only a few Bark for Life in the year, most were during the summer, fortunately there was one in April, the one in the Ramsey Cor.
I arrived just around 9:10 - 9:15 AM, things were already very exciting, so many pets already there and the vendors had some neat stuff.
Unfortunately due to some cancellations the chairs and other things I was *hoping* to have werent coming, but I did manage to bring a blanket and some chairs of my own that were decent, along with a 24 pack of water for any suiters besides myself.
Before things kicked off they had a DJ playing music, and Spot, the Target Corporation mascot was there dancing. I couldnt help myself and joined in with Spot on Gangnam Style, it was fun, and I hope to see some of the pictures posted soon.
The event started off in the usual Relay For Life style of remembering why we relay and why its so important for us to help cancer survivors have birthdays as well as thanking those who have cared for cancer survivors. They introduced the events spotlight pet cancer survivor, and talked about that animals fight with cancer.
We then lined up for the first lap of the event, Cancer survivors lead the way around the track followed by everyone else with much energy about.
The event after that had several demonstrations, ranging from Police K9's to Grooming and the importance of dental care for pets.
it was loads of fun and ended around 12:15 with 1 more lap around.
Overall it was really fun, even with the # of folks who dropped out during the last week from coming all i will say is that it was your lose becuase it was just a PHENOMINAL event.
