FCAA Losing its independents

Long ago, independent schools used to dominate the many sports in the FCAA, but that doesn't seem the case anymore, except for Acadiana University Baseball, a frequent qualifier of the College Furry Series, but starting this Fall, the Ragin' Acadians will even be moving into a conference: the Deep South Conference.
Fellow independent schools Ponciana University, Florida Manatee University, and Texarkana University will be joining them as well. Not only that, but the University of New Jersey has also announced that it will be joining a conference next year: the Colonial Conference.
There is also much speculation that Munciana Memphit University may also join a conference soon. It is known that the Alpha 12, Heartland Conference, Great Lakes Conference, and Smokey Mountain Conference have all made offers to that Muncie, IN school.
Acadiana perhaps has the most FCAA prestige of any independent school with 13 baseball championships, 3 consecutive basketball tournament appearances (including the 2011 Furry Four), and the National football championship in 1967 and 1969.
Perhaps the greatest independent school in history was Underwood College, who won 12 basketball championships, 4 wrestling championships, and 2 Track & Field Championships prior to joining the New England Conference in 1982.
