XD Since my push for commissions towards gathering money to give away for a contest were totally bust, I've been thinking of designing my own... save some of that cash for after the holidays for tapped out artists. :P
In any case, I was wondering about input/feedback! (and if this sort of thing has been done before, I'd love to be pointed towards folks who have done something like it!)
Description
Armor
At first she can appear fearsome, a towering creature of wood and rock; her armor is composed of a living white poplar tree, its trunk and branches split to form a vaguely humanoid shape. Its legs are gnarled, made of older, mature bark, while its arms and torso are smooth as paper. Its leaves are shimmering silver, and long strands of both polished and rough semi-precious gemstones hang from its many branches. Its leaves grow and shed dependent upon the seasons. An old 'scar' up the torso of the trunk proves to be a point of exit and entry for the creature within. When within her armor, no part of her is visible.
Skin
Almost as fearsome as her inhuman armor, she stands about 7' tall, though much of her height is attributed to her digitigrade legs. She is a chimeric mix of bull (barrel chested, heavy-set neck and wide sweeping horns), lion (thick mane, clawed feet and hands) and dragon (serpentine tail, long tongue, vaguely draconic/feline muzzle) with small breasts and wide, expressive hands, she is stubborn, opinionated and choleric, but also faithful and benevolent. Her body-fur ranges from a rosy brown along her spine and tail across tawny cream at her sides, to a white belly. Darker auburn stripes run the length of her body, like a tiger. She dresses sparsely in brown and blue, wearing several layers of necklaces, arm, leg and tail bangles that drip with turquoise, pearls, opals and even the occasional diamond. A sealed slit runs vertically from just above her mons to just below her sternum.
True Form
Behind the Armor and Skin, her true form is revealed: a nymph-like creature only just reaching 5'. Her skin is rosy and her hair is a warm mahogany brown. Her legs are digitigrade, with lion-like paws. Her tail is still long and serpentine, but also thinner. Her hair is often tied up and back but when let loose, it spills to mid-back; she sometimes decorates it with ribbons but doesn't pay nearly as much attention to this form as to her Skin. Faintly rosy stripes run across her body. She rarely wears clothing in this form but is much more tentative than when wearing her Skin... shy, a little insecure, but with hints of the temerity and staunch loyalty that she displays so clearly while in her Skin. Possessing both qualities of nymph and Selkie, she prefers to drape herself in larger forms to protect this aspect of her.
X3 I just like the idea of something that nests and has several layers, each very different from the last. Any thoughts?
