The raffle will close with the end of 2013! We will not accept any entries time stamped "2014". This is a 2013 only raffle :3. Be sure to enter by the end of he day today! We will be drawing the winner and contacting them shortly after the New Years festivities.

Since the other raffle page ( http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5259913/ ) is crashing for so many people, I decided to open up another, fresh page so that people that would like to enter doesn't have to go through horrible amounts of lag and scroll down forever to post. ^^! You can still enter via the other raffle page as well, both the entries on that page and this page will be counted! <3
Also, in order to cut down on spam, You can also, if you have other friends that would like to join, post only one journal, and have your friend's names on the journal as well. Then your friends can enter this raffle, and just link to the one journal that you made with their names on it. This is a completely optional choice, but thought I would include it!! ^^!
I would like to comment as well that I am completely blown away with the amount of entries this raffle has gotten! I had absolutely no clue it would explode like this so quickly, as my last raffle only had ~500 entries through the entire month it was open. This raffle is currently at around 2700 entries, and it's only been a day! I'm really glad that all of you did decide to join, that's fantastic, and makes me happy that so many furrys have a chance at getting the money. I would like to apologize for the spam that it's caused the last day, as it was completely unintentional! >///< To any of the furrys thinking this is shady, or could be a fake raffle, I can assure you, this is a completely real giveaway, and no, I didn't steal the money or any of the other crazy things I've heard! I just wanted to do this to give back to the community I love and call home.
The sole reason I made this giveaway was to give every furry that enters a chance at winning $1111.00 to do whatever they please with. The reason I'm not picking and choosing and giving this to a person or a charity, is because I feel like random chance is the most genuine way of giving money. And it's my money, so I feel I have the right to give it away the way I feel is best. This is not an attempt to become 'popular' or to gain watchers. I only included the 'watch me' thing because it was a carry-over from my last raffle, and that I really didn't think it was a big deal. I'm not an artist, and so I will not profit in monetary gain from these watchers. The only thing that I will gain I guess is more people seeing when I post my next raffle, and I guess a larger audience seeing the art that I commission posted. But honestly the art is posted by the artists anyways, and a lot of the artists have many many more watchers than I do, so I don't really see me being the terribly selfish horrible person a lot of people have been calling me out as because I ask for a watch to join, and honestly, most people would have probably watched me anyways without me asking, so I'm sorry for that, but I feel it's too late to change that now, and for my next raffle, I will not require a watch to join. I'm sorry if I upsetted anyone by not thinking completely 100% thoroughly about how I may be seen as a bad person for giving away $1111.00 while posting this. >///<

Most of the time Raffles need to be BY country and the person holding it and the person getting the money must be 18 or older ( or a legal adult in their area. Due to the fact that a raffle is gambling. So please look up gambling laws per state.
However THIS IS NOT A RAFFLE. Nor should be called one. The word is giveaway due to the fact their is no risk involved. Despite people calling this a raffle. However I'm pretty sure it is agent the AUP to do giveaways for money. Though for some reason this seems to be okay , I'm unsure on why. Maybe it fits nicely in a loophole of somesort.

He's going to forever be known as 'that guy that dangled his money to gain watchers'. It's completely dim-witted.
Nothing you say is going to change or stop this. I think people should earn their watchers, too, not buy them, but do you see me starting things? It's not like he's farming money or something like that. It's harmless, and if as you say most people wathing him wil unwatch him when it's over, then why does it matter to you? I've seen people create fake accounts and steal a few people's artworks, just for the 10 minutes of spam and hatemail they get from it. And this is far from that. Even if this raffle is fake and rigged, the worst that can happen is everybody who didn't win gets disapointed.
I don't think anyone who makes these "watch to enter raffle" things assumes everyone is staying. It's an obvious trade; raffle-maker gets some visuality, people entering raffle get to, well, enter in it and maybe win something. After the raffle those who aren't interested int he raffle-maker as an artist or person will unwatch, and that's just fine. The gain for the raffle-maker is that some that got genuinely interested and found them thru the raffle stay. It's open and simple concept, I fail to see it as a scam or farming of any kind, there's nothing hidden in that.

Now I'm not entering, but I really don't see any reason why people need to know where they come from, if this was half a million or something, I can see why people are suspect.
a tiny note though, he commissions a lot of people, and I've heard nothing of him not paying up, so it might be naive to believe in a $1111 give-away, but there is no loss in it. And if it all turns out to be a scam, then only himself will look stupid.

Nothing shady, no college grants, nothing like that. Kris is just very generous and has done a lot for the community. At Megaplex Kris paid not only to transport someone from Orlando to Tampa, but also bought them a Lobster dinner to help cheer them up because they rode their bike from Tampa to Orlando and were in too rough of a shape to go home. How the money is obtained is his personal business, but he's done a lot to help people, provided rooms free of charge to many at cons who were temporarily without a room, etc.
Regardless of the source of funds, this raffle is a lottery and a lottery is illegal without the proper state-issued license and taxing information.

This is so amazing of you to do. Don't listen to all the rude people above me, even if we don't win this - your characters and the art you submit is amazing so I doubt many will unwatch you simply because they didn't win. I know I won't.

Now I'm HOPING this raffle is genuine. If it is, it's a very generous offer. Even if I lose, if I find out the prize was legitimate I won't unfollow.

So many seem to be very suspicious where the money is coming from but...a job? Or heritage, it should not be our business anyway. Logic says that if he had stolen it he would be keeping it to himself and not give away, right?
Also, sort of fascinating how people get angry when someone offers to spread their extra wealth instead of just keeping it in their own pockets.
And Krispup, don't let those malicious comments get you down; there's always people who get upset (basicly because they _want_ to get upset) no matter what you or anyone does, there's no pleasing everyone, but it's ok. :3
I think if you find yourself only worrying about how many watchers everyone else has you're going to be miserable. Not all watches are based on art, some are based on socializing or the person has interesting things to share (like what commissions they bought). Watchers are really just who gets an inbox notification about you. They aren't a measure of success as a user.
While FA is an art site it does function a lot like a social network as well.
This does bring up something, like you said it was only 1 day up and already over 2,000 people entered. So this makes me think you should end the raffle a bit earlier than Christmas?
Also, I really don't understand the hate. Some of us really need the money and are not too prideful to accept it from others.
For the hate, I think it could be for either of the following reasons:
A. It's a large sum of money and some think it should automatically go to a charity instead of just 1 random person on this site. I support and love charities but it's Kris's money so he should be allowed to spend/do whatever he wants with it.
B. Similar to A, large amount of cash.. so some think it's a scam.
C. How does someone who is "19" years old (I dunno Kris's page, this is just what I've been hearing) acquire this large amount of money? Is he a rich kid? Does he have a high paying job? (If so pleaaaase tell me what it is Kris!) Did he inherit a large amount of money from a deceased relative? I wouldn't say "hate" but more like people "shocked" because $1,111 is a lot of money in the current US economy.
The doubts being expressed are very reasonable.
But, to be fair, he doesn't have to say where the money came from. It's no one's business really. :/
And yea, actually. I'd like to think its people's business. There have been instances in the past within the fandom where individuals have gone off their parents credit cards, bought a bunch of commissions, and when the parents found out, charge backs were done. Guess who was out of luck at that point? It is perfectly reasonable to have doubt, while I condemn this individual'a generosity. Because what is TRULY easy is being able to hide behind the screen of a monitor. Id personally love some credibility behind this before dipping my toes into this risk. This is not some large corporation doing a giveaway. It's a single, 19 year old. But it most definitely is something that could possibly be used to gain revenue, however, just because your brother is responsible with that money, does not discredit the possibility that this individual is getting his money in a "not so great" fashion. I never accused the person of outright doing it, I offered a /suggestion/ to be transparent of where this money is coming from (most people who do giveaways on tumblr are VERy TRANSPARENT about it. it saves them the trouble of having to explain when people are RIGHTFULLY questioning the legitimacy of these funds/items). While it is POSSIBLE that he could have received the money through stocks, or financial aid/grants, or other means really, it is also VERY possible, as I stated above, to do something as simple as using your parent's credit card, as it has been proven time and time again by countless people on this very site.
Knowing where anyone's money is coming from is none of anyone's business, yes, but when you are putting it out in public, and getting everyone potentially involved in a raffle to WIN THIS MONEY, it is generally wise to know where it came from so you are not HEAVILY screwed over in the future. Even if there are possible, positive ways that he received the money, there are still the possible negatives. and it is always wise to question the what ifs, especially when accepting a large sum of money like this.

Learn more about the internet. Almost every giveaway involving a website with a watch/follow feature, one of the requirements is you must be following the person doing the giveaway. In fact, it's more rare to see someone WITHOUT that requirement.
And no, it's in a slow growth stock, it can't drop or grow more than $10,000 at a time, and that's nothing to the total of the account. It's not in aggressive stocks, thats if you want fast cash, we want a savings that we can rely on. I won't "learn" anything, we're fully aware of how it works otherwise the money wouldn't freaking be in it. There are multiple accounts with multiple stocks. That's what I was told about the Raffle+Money issue by an admin when they suspected that I was asking people to buy their way into a raffle. Though, it was an extra entry if they had bought a commission of the images that the raffle had been a part of. As far as I know, this is okay with the site. As long as you do not have to pay your way into a raffle.
ANYWAYS.. Dragoneer said that raffles like this are fine on the site, just no paying to get into a raffle - it's in one of the comments on this page, someone had brought up the fact he said it.
The most you can do is diversify your stocks so if one kind of stock doesn't do well the others can balance it out.
at least the person who wins should exercise some concern. :)
I was just stating my opinion though! It's fine if you disagree. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but I feel it's DEFINITELY worth being skeptical about.
Also stolen is bought up because there have been incidents in the past where the individual took their parent's credit card, and the artist's they commissioned eventually suffered charge backs.

As for favorite animal, it is hard to choose for me as I have grown up with dogs an cats all my life so it is hard to choose. But I think I would have to give like 1% or 2% more to cats. I wish my apartment could allow pets. Oh well.

I'm sure as hell you don't like someone telling YOU how to manage YOUR own money, Right?
You know, those that are saying to give it away to a charity and such, I'm damn sure that if that person won the lottery, or any amount of substantial money, charity would be almost at the bottom of their list.

Krispup recently consulted a GA state attorney registered with the GA state bar and the attorney said that there is no grey area and the contest is perfectly legal in the state of GA and over the Internet. It's the same as any other company running a Facebook promotion and requiring a user to "like" to enter or send in a post card with their address or any other method. Bonding isn't required due to the dollar amount and location. A sweepstakes must exclude one of the following: prizes, chance, or consideration. This excludes consideration because of non-monetary involvement.

I also have to wonder if the adjustments in Senate Bill 431 (2012) apply (the part in Section 2, which states that business prize giveaways selected by lot must be noncash prizes). This also seems to fit more clearly with what you are saying in that a "like" equivalent is not tangible consideration "in the form of money or other property or thing of value" for the purpose of that section.
In case it helps, I'm looking at O.C.G.A. § 16-12-20 (4) (B) via LexisNexis. There are older copies of the statute floating around but they don't contain the modifications of the above bill.
There has been some talk on FAF about how if someone wanted to give $1000 away, it would be better to commission some artists and cause some art to be created which might be shared with the community. This activity is not profitable to most of those engaged in it (unless you count hope), and it has soaked up a lot of people's time. There's an opportunity cost there, probably far larger than $1000.
It's not the only raffle-style spamming recently, just the most noticeable. Dragoneer has indicated he's thinking about policy to curtail them. I am too, on Inkbunny, although it's been less of an issue there and I think tamping them down here would mostly solve it.
But might I ask what annoys people...? I am seeing a split amongst my friends which covers a diverse bunch that either been to nearly every con every year to those who have never been to a con.
I can see why people get mixed signals on the "watch to enter" part of it. Unless you can truly hack someone's thoughts you may never know their real intentions. You've probably heard "Cash is King" and will draw more people over any prize of equal value. (1 grand of art, booze, con funds, vs cash).
I just don't see what annoys people. I mean I don't enter because generosity would be better spent on someone in need. But what is annoying? Is it just the site performance, perceived sensationalism, or something else?
I had a talk with the lawyer last night, he said that the raffle is 100% fine and he's sure he could easily defend any issue that would come from it. So good news there.
Krispup has spent more money on lesser known artists than on popular ones, if you look at his gallery and commission history, so no worries there either.

It's a sad world indeed when people giving money away because of kindness is seen as a stunt for popularity and their morals, values and angles are questions.
.. or maybe because it's so difficult to get a job in this bomb-ass economy so we're told to go to college and stay with our parents until we graduate, only to find that no one's hiring a person who has a bachelor's degree but no "prior work experience." They say 24 is the new 18.
Also how is the world "more sensitive" when dealing with racism? Racism is inexcusable.
TL;DR, it's not that there are no jobs, it's that people only apply to the safety line and forgo any job potential outside their comfort zone. So stop blaming the economy. Blame the people who give up and not want to go beyond what they feel is 'safe'.
I applied to the McD's and Walmart and a lot of other places. In some days I would apply to 30 stores. Most of them never called back even with a followup. I also have a bachelor's in accountancy but most accounting firms and banks never called back (in fact banks filed me out automatically because of no prior work experience).

He could've saved up and decided having many watchers was worth the money because now these 2k+ watchers will read his COMMISSIONS journals, and may commission him and he could make back the 1.111k with time and then more. It's easier to make 1.111k off commissions if you have thousands of watchers.
As for "illegal activity"...well...I'm unsure of the laws. But worse comes to worse, I made a journal, told him my favorite animal and watched an artist. It's no harm done. It's not like I gave out personal information.

My favorite animal, I would usually say African Painted Dogs, but after working in shelters I have to say that I love Pitbulls and rats. I've owned one of each and they're absolute, misunderstood dolls.
I don't see the harm in this whatsoever. If you're really giving out money, then that's really awesome of you and hopefully it helps whoever gets it. I know it'd help me out a lot. If you're not, well then that sucks and everyone will get over it. I don't get what the big deal is, and why everyone is saying that you should be giving it to more worthy causes. Anyone joining could be completely worthy and in need of it. Just because they're not in dire need from a natural disaster or anything doesn't make their problems worthless. You don't know the story or situation of everyone entering, so I don't get why people are acting as if they do. Me personally? I would give a little to the Humane Society I work at because I love them and I've done it before whether I need to keep my money or not. I would give some to my parents for giving me money to help with my move. And then I would probably keep most of it for myself and my boyfriend to pay our bills.Maybe I'd get myself a little luxury item along the way, like a game or something. Who knows. And according to FA's Code of Conduct: "DO NOT Discuss or Engage in Unlawful Activity " and "(incl. raffles involving the exchange of real money)" but Dragoneer has clarified that as long as you don't have to pay money INTO the raffle, it is fine by FA's rules. This brings up interesting questions about international and inter-state law, and law over the internet, which I am not qualified to clarify, since I'm just a biochemistry undergraduate and I know nothing of the intricacies of law. Furthermore, there is a question of morality: would it not be best to select a specific person who you know is in need of the money, and deserves it? A random number generator doesn't take into account the particular situation of each individual, it doesn't care whether the winner is already wealthy or poor, whether they are pleasant or rude, or a homicidal maniac. In order to continue with this socio-legal study of mine, I will now state a couple of disclaimers: I have decided to watch KrisPup because I am curious about the outcome of this...hmm....situation, I have posted this journal because I wanted to rant about a couple of things and this was a perfect opportunity, and I will post a comment on his journal because I'd like to communicate with him in a way that is publicly accessible to anyone who wishes to join in on the conversation, besides, I'd like to see how this experiment plays out.

All of the things you mention are services. Whether they are valuable is up to the person on the other end. In this case, Krispup appears to have valued them at at least $1111 (plus his time for organizing his competition).
All in all, I'm not sure up to what point each of the points that were brought up apply in this context, so I try to cover all of them, or at least think about them.
But, seeing that the current method gives every entry the same chance of winning, there is no need to hold back. Most people could use the money, and there will always be someone else who would need it more, so it's not going to be perfectly fair either way. From that perspective, perhaps a random number generator is the best option. It won't make it perfectly fair, but it will be perfectly blind, so at least people who neither need nor deserve the money will have a better chance than anyone else simply by being "plugged". A subjective method will tend towards extremes, whereas a random winner will give an unbiased distribution.

I am praying I win, My grandma died and wife lost her job today. I could use this..
I seriously call this bullshit (pardon my french). I mean, even several people are asking him kindly where the money is coming from (most people don't have the right to know, but since he's giving it away, potential winners should know)
He's doing this mainly for watches and if you've noticed, he never replies to people being suspicious, he's avoiding it and if he was telling the truth, he'd be honest and say "hey I'm telling the truth and here's why"
Sounds shady to me and I'm sorry that people are just buying into it like its entirely normal and not even being the least bit suspicious.

There's really nothing to lose though for the participant, other than wasted time and journal spam which can be taken care of with browser extensions anyway if he doesn't give. Sure people will be angry, but it's free money, you weren't entitled to it in the first place. Watching someone isn't permanent. The only thing that could really happen is if you choose to take the money through paypal, which isn't the safest way with this amount anyway, and end up getting a chargeback. But if he accepts something other than paypal, this can easily be avoided.
How? He could easily pick favorites with people just by how popular they themselves are or something like that. I just.. no offense to anyone entering, but why isn't this rising ANY suspicion for them considering their past? And the fact that it's required to watch them, that's a big red flag for me. Even in a raffle I held a few months ago, watchers were NOT required, but appreciated. He should've done that in the first place.
Secondly, if he was in fact telling the truth, why hasn't he even defended himself? It could be to avoid drama, it could be because he's already confident with himself about him telling the truth... but it could be because he's purposely avoiding those suspicions for a reason.
And yeah, watches aren't permanent, but I highly doubt people will unwatch him after the raffle because they now know he's willing to give this amount of money away and will kiss his ass. In my opinion, he's simply doing this for watches.
He says that he just wanted watchers transferred over from a previous account (If i read that right), but why REQUIRE IT? I've never seen a raffle on here or on tumblr, ever require watches and I've joined several.

Even if he did defend himself, you think that everyone doubting him would believe him? This is a lot of money for someone his age, yes, but it's possible to have that saved up if you started working early, most people start looking for jobs at 16 and can afford to pay for their car insurance, cell phone bill and are looking into buying homes without roommate's help to pay the bill as soon as they get out of high school in the area I lived in. Is it really that hard to believe some people have that kind of money?
I know plenty of people that plan to unwatch. What's it to anyone anyway if this is a grab for attention? If it's not legit, he will get a bad reputation and can easily be blocked by everyone this matters to. People it doesn't matter that much to won't even be mad, they'll just stop joining his raffles. People on the internet seem so concerned that someone is becoming popular by "buying watchers", why on earth does it even matter? The artwork he posts are from other artists, so if anyone does stick around, other artists will be exposed through this guy.
He claims the "watch me" part was carried over, as in "copy pasted", so it could easily be an accident both times, or he's just trying to keep it consistent for this particular raffle. He says it won't be required the next time around, if there is one.
He could've saved a lot of money, it could be inheritance, but we don't have the right to know, he can do what he wants. And I'm not saying he doesn't have the money, but I'm saying it's unlikely that he'll give it away, 1,000$ is a lot of money, it can easily pay rent for some people. So I believe the skeptics are suspicious because it's not everyday someone just gives $1,000 to a stranger over the internet. My main worry is that he's letting people get their hopes up for nothing, especially during the holidays. If it is true, then bless him for being generous, because it's rare for it to happen.
Obviously there can only be one winner, but what if that winner is let down? What if that money was to help them with something important and she/he doesn't receive it? That's kind of why I'm suspicious because several things don't match up and he won't speak up to resolve the worries of people. Speaking up won't cause more drama, will it resolve it? Maybe, maybe not. But it'll be better then being completely quiet about it, too. Because at least we'll know that he has read their concerns and understands where they are coming from. It may not make anyone believe him, but it'll say "hey, he took time out of his day to shed some light on the situation"
I honestly do hope he's being truthful about this, I really do, because that'll restore a lot of people's faith in humanity, including my own. But being scammed in the past (not by him, but others), it does make me skeptical.

I love critters in general. Personal favorites are probably owls, otters and smaller species of wild cats. Dogs in general make my day, especially when friendly ones show up at my day job. I'm also rather fond of scaly things - both lizards and snakes.
In the interest of full disclosure, if I managed to win most of the cash would be helping to cover the cost of a major repair bill for my car. At least $100 would go to a local charity, with that number going up and possibly expanding to two local charities if the cost of the replacement engine itself isn't as high as expected.

I really don't like to "rain on the parade," that is your hope for possibly winning this "raffle," but please take a moment to realize how easy it would be to fake something like this.
First, I spread the word that I am hosting a raffle, in which the randomly chosen winner will receive 1000+ dollars. All you have to do is watch me, advertise the raffle to bring in more participants, and tell me some useless information about yourself.
The second step is a nothing more then a maniacal chuckle as I watch my amount of watchers sky rocket, along with general popularity. I'm the 1000 dollar give away guy, fuck yea.
The third and final step, after I've had my fun, is to announce a winner. Little does this community know, I created a legitimate looking sock account a while back. I announce said account as the winner. Then I log into that account, and nullify any suspicions by acting as if my broke ass just won 1000 dollars

Also, just a note to those saying things like "Raffles are no longer allowed" or "This raffle ruined things":
First of all, it isn't Kris' fault that FA decided to change the rules. This is far from the only raffle I've seen get a lot of attention lately, so there is absolutely no reason to start placing "blame" on any one person... least of all someone who is doing this out of the goodness of his heart and not as a means to mindlessly gain watchers, etc.
Secondly, I see NOTHING in that journal stating that raffles are no longer allowed. What they want to put a stop to is requiring a journal post to enter a raffle. I see no mention of banning raffles altogether.
Yes, this raffle does ask for a journal post, but this was done before the new rule went into effect and there is no reason to assume that this contest is the sole cause of the change. I've opted to post a journal anyway, mainly because my page gets little to no notable traffic and the chances that anyone will repost the journal based on my posting are slim.
But please guys, don't start problems here over the rule changes. It really is not his fault.

"Everything is spam to someone who dislikes that subject." There's a way to delete them...use it. Otherwise until FA has a filter, use an add-on that many suggested in Fender's journal, up toward the top third.

You may have wanted to just be nice, but a money raffle is not the ideal way to do it. It causes too much controversy and infighting over it. Rules the first time I read it was that a person holding a raffle could not make it a rule.
When did they add that someone couldnt advertise a journal in their own journal without being asked?

Too many users have been encouraging mass spamming on the site for entries into raffles or contests. It's gotten out of hand and is inconveniencing the entire community.

I put everything on the line, for the sake of struggling to help myself.

if I were to win well- I'd use 350 dollars of it to replenish my bank because a speed ticket took me down that much, pay a person back for a commission they had me do [it's maybe ten bucks] some time ago and I just can't get my muse to work... give some to my bf cuz he's having hard times and yeah I'd put the rest in my bank due to needing it to apply for school since I have to pay the birth certificate office to fix what they fucked up, the SS office for same reason, the 100 dollars to change start date, all the postage... I can go on and on about how 1000 dollars would dwindle in a week of paying back people. So yeah- this is my slap in the face to those who scream give it to charity.
And no- I don't question some '19' year old having this much to give away- when I was 19 I had a job that payed this much. I worked six days. Six. Earned maybe 2k in six days because I worked at a college football stadium- and they do pay pretty good money btw.

The only reason why he has so many watchers right now is because of journals like this one. If not for this journal he wouldn't have that many watchers.

If this wasnt such a HUGE raffle, people wouldnt make such a big deal of that being a requirement. All thats gained is the number of watchers, hes not actually gaining fans of his work or getting anything out of it. Its a profile on a furry website.. no one in the world other than a few furries are really going to care that he has 4,000 watchers. Hes not getting unfair popularity, people watch him because they want the money that he is GIVING out for free and thats the only thing he will be known for.
I dont think its a big deal and I think what hes trying to do is kind and selfless.
Didn't you just state earlier that many raffles have the silly "watch me" requirement? So no, size of the raffle is irrelevant to this requirement. If he's actually serious in giving away +$1000.00 then yeah, I'd say he's rich. I'm pretty sure if he wasn't rich he wouldn't be giving this money away due to how terrible the economy is because if he wasn't he'd be spending it on bills and food. I know what he's gaining from this. :| Irrelevant because that's not what I'm talking about. Throwing around money in people's faces and asking them to watch you is getting unfair popularity " people watch him because they want the money that he is GIVING out for free and thats the only thing he will be known for."
Apparently this was a big enough to deal for the Administrators to put into place a shit rule for advertising for artists to make money off their art. Giving away money is a selfless act, I agree but that's if he actually has it which I really don't think he does.
