Fractals are not art According to Damaratus

My friend :Osiris:, who I consider a good fractal artist, has been told the following by :Damaratus:
Fractals are considered to be generated artwork because the only thing you really need to create them is a program to generate fractals. Moving sliders around to create an affect does not really equate to original works. Another person could take the same program and set things to the same settings and end up with the exact same image.
The site is really for original works, something that cannot be carbon copied and duplicated.
If your friend feels that there is something that sets his works apart, or a reason he feels that factals deserve a place on the site, he can certainly raise the question in a note to an administrator, or in the forums. While we're not out to exclude people from the site, there is a line that we've been trying to keep when it comes to what passes as artwork on the site. The only way for this to change is for there to be a good argument as to how fractals is something beyond simply a generated image from a piece of software.

I am saying MESSAGE DRAGONEER AND DAMARATUS. This is bullshit. Fractals are art. This is not the furriest art, but none the less it is art. and to say it is just "moving sliders" is crap.

FA+

if they took ANY time at all to look at the different programs and at the different styles of each fractal artists (myself included) they would blatantly see differences.
Sure I can see why he wouldn't like fractal art on FA. Hell personally, (Arguments aside whether it is or isn't unique art.) I don't like to see none furry art on this site. I don't like for example, rl photographs (especially of themselves laid in various different poses or pouting into a mirror.), secondlife pictures of none unique content the poster didn't make or have made for them, pictures of humans or hentai without any hint of furryness. Pictures of peoples cars that do not have unique art painted onto them, pictures of desktops that are not fur themed, fractal art (yes fractal art :P), pictures of peoples gun collections (of which there seem to be an astonishing amount). I could go on and on and on. But I because I know these things will not go away because I don't like them, despite some of them being disallowed by fa rules, I ignore them, I put up with them and most of all, unless something actually offends me, I don't bitch about it on forums :p
End rant
Does that belong on a furry art page? I can see the argument it does not, but on the other hand, this is furries creating this art.
You can rant if you want, DFS, and I will respect your difference of opinion, but respect ours.
I am not an artist by any stretch of the means (hell I can't keep my rants on focus half the time) but I can and do appreciate fractals as art, and are asthetically pleasing to me (from some people).
I understand there have been people abusing the fractal thing, but that doesn't mean they should be banned
I suppose it all comes down to what the individual user wants to get out of their time spent on FA, I for example come to FA to view art of a furry nature. Others may come purely for the stories, I myself use Yiffstar for stories as its much better designed to find stories of the sort I enjoy. As for music I'll usually browse new artists on myspace (Which is the only thing i ever use myspace for nowadays). If I want to view photos of friends I'll befriend them on a social networking site such as facebook. Everything in its place.
Please don't view this as an attack or argument as its not intended as such, its merely intended to put across another viewpoint.
