Nintendo to shut down DS and Wii Wi-Fi!
It is sad but true Nintendo is shutting down the DS and Wii Wi-Fi services.
The Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL are not effected by this though.
Here is the article about the shut down:

I just hope that the old Wii games will connect via the Wii U.
I hope they update that software so that we can use Animal Crossing City Folk and connect using our Wii U.
I really hops that is true or it will be pretty lame if I cannot connect on the DS version or the Wii version.
Especially when I have a 3DS XL I am hoping that will connect ok on my 3DS. o.O

I really wish myself they would have kept at least that part of the service opened but no...
Well duh, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection & Nintendo Network are separate.
They're struggling and looking for Ways to cut Costs.
That's why you pay for Pokémon Bank monthly.
Why the Wii's Online System has been shut off long ago.
And why the Rest of the old Online System [DS] now follows Track as well.
I've got SNES, Wii, GBC, GBA SP, GBA Micro, DS, DSlite and 3DS. And PS2, nothing else.
And I've gotta say Nintendo's Games have a sad History of becoming worse each Time I look at a new one.
Market Research said Asian Gaming Companies [including Nintendo] admitted to have no Idea what the Western Market wants (!).
That's why they keep repeating Stuff over and over again if they're lucky enough to 'accidentally' create something we seem to like.
Sad but true Story, Nintendo's -real- Success as the Gaming Company is undenyable long gone, and they're living in the Past. New Technologies for Performance as well as Online Connectivity [WEP for DS? Even back then, srsly?], Hell, even CD Drives back then [look up the Story about N64 and PSone]... Software / OS / Capabilities are more than limited... and gamewise, they're still producing Kid's Stuff mostly, when we're Adults now and Kids nowadays tend to get Microsoft or Sony instead.
Now I still wanna have Yoshi's New Island, but that's Nostalgia, nothing new - it's one of their old, successful Titles. Nintendo's gotta realize they have to grow up if they want to reclaim their already lost Position on the Market, but therefore, they have to stop being stuck in the Past and solely trying to live off of gimicky Console Ideas which will be ripped off and done better by the 'Big Guys' as soon as they prove to be succesfull enough.
PLEASE hear my Plea, Nintendo: Grow up!
