every fandom has a dark side.

personally, im really tired of most of the adult work on this site. my FA is on SFW mode unless im clearing out messages and things. sure ill favourite a few adult things here and there, but i really dont want to see it or that its annoying thats all dicks all the time and very little of anything else.

That's a good view on things, as a facet of the community.

I hear you and relate there as far as the lack of variety. I do like looking at it from time to time but find i enjoy it mostly for the quality of art with 'Some' of the pieces.

I don't define myself by it at all. While I do like yiffy art, it's rather rare in my art galleries, both commissioned and drawn myself. It's just another type of art. I'm certainly not yiffy, but I do enjoy sex as much as anyone else and occasionally that shows in art. Due to a very dark and horrible experience, I don't ever let my character be drawn with anyone who isn't my mate, however.

You're welcome. :) Art is art. I don't understand the negativity people sometimes have about it existing, or those who deny it, even if some of it isn't really my thing.

Addressing that, yes, it's there- because human beings are inherently sexual creatures (mostly) and that's going to work into most anything they come up with. Furries included. The difference seems to be that this fandom is open and honest about it instead of trying to hide it and be ashamed. It's kind of a positive thing, really.

Though yes, there's plenty of weirdness that can come up from it. And I personally would address it much differently in reality than behind our fursona masks- but that's the point of getting to express yourself with them, isn't it?

The adult side of the fandom definitely reflects how humans are in just about everything and the open-ness of it is something i find refreshing and intriguing most of the time. There are points that I found weird when i first happened upon them years ago but have found that my views have expanded over time. If I cant relate to them or downright embrace those things i found weird before, i can at least understand and accept them.

I've recently been considering working at my art skills with an intent to draw adult art. Its definitely a side of myself that i dont necessarily feel the need to 'put out there' but i dont feel the need to hide it either. On the plus side, I've always wanted to draw and jsut create visual works of art... and adult stuff is something i want to draw. Turns out wanting to draw gives pretty good motivation to actually do this thing called drawing

Oh hai! Was checking to make sure I'd friended ya on FA, and saw this journal. Never saw it in my feed back when you posted it.

The Yiffy part of the fandom? My feelings and perspectives kinda go all over the place, and they have changed over time, as has the fandom....I've been active in the furry fandom for about 15 years, and its not the same fandom today as when I first got my hooves wet back in 2000.

I found the adult art side of the fandom very quickly, and I've always enjoyed it. I appreciate both clean, romantic adult art, as well as the weird fetish stuff, provided its been done well. Between the fandom and the internet, I've had my ability to be freaked out by art/porn to be nearly gone.

I don't hide the fact that I'm a pretty weird individual, or that I'm into a lot of kinks, IRL and furry. I don't advertise it among IRL people, but if asked about it, I'm open to discussing it. Its just another facet of life to me, just like preferences in food, cars, etc. When I can, I try to educate those new to the scene.

That said, I'm put off by people who let their sexuality, or their kinks define them, or the folks who make their mission in life to have as much sex/weird sex as possible. Hearing about folks exploits and conquests in the bedroom always makes me just a little uncomfortable. Basically, I'm all about discussing the when, where, how, techniques, tips/tricks...just not with 'who with' To me, thats the only TMI part of yiffy/sexy stuff.
