You know, since he has a long rap sheet, I have to wonder if he was well raised when he was a child. it would have been very strange had he not been. the important thing is that he doesn't get to keep doing what he did.

now if only locking away one person, could somehow stop anyone else from being aggressively inconsiderate, especially when it so completely endangers others.

but as is always my nature, too look at the broader picture, and to seek ways to reduce, at least the likelihood, of what happened to you, happening to so many others.

clearly some people should never drive, but i don't know of any way to prevent them from doing so, without a creating a world in which no one would ever have to.

as this experience clearly illustrates, merely denying someone a piece of paper that says they're allowed to, cannot prevent someone from simply ignoring their lack of it.

its like signs, telling people not to do what their common sense already tells them not to. its not as if someone who would is going to read the sign. its there so they can't claim no one ever warned them.

people want their world to be free and easy, to not have to worry about anything, and i don't blame anyone for WANTING that.

but when a culture refuses to look beyond the material gain of individuals, refuses to consider the risks created by doing so, tragic harm results pretty much inevitably.

perpetrators don't get a free pass, but if we want to reduce people doing wrongful and harmful things, we simply cannot ignore how the motivation to do so is created.
no punishment of individuals, however sever, can ever alone, prevent others from repeating their crime.

when there is no adequate alternative to driving a car, or people have in their mind that there isn't, invariably there will be those who do so irresponsibly.
bankers and oil companies want everyone to have to drive a car. this is what happens.
less then a month after what happened to you, someone was killed crossing the street a block from where i was living at the time.

I am so glad this had a good ending for such a tragic day. I'm so happy that you guys can move on, knowing he isn't out on the road so he can't affect anyone else's lives like he did yours.

HUZZAH!!! Glad to know he won't get to skate by on this absolutely heinous crime...murder is murder if you ask me and he should get the harshest penalty allowed. I'm so glad you're doing so well and you have more pups to love on and love you. :) *hug*
