We say good by to Freuline, my Sisters 14 year old German Shepherd. A Protector and valiant warrior. She came into the family an abused puppy, over time she bonded with my sister, and became her protector and companion. In the last year she declined, her hind legs stopped working, and her front were following, fur falling out, unable to stand and give that throaty bark to announce her position. I am sure she did not understand why she could no longer run with the wind, and chase the sprinkler and hop with the baby rabbits in the yard. Unable to watch this any further, We accepted the pain and released her today and hope that her strength is restored and that she find her way until we can one day rejoin, perhaps even more like equals.
