Rememberance
11 years ago
On this day, in 2001, a boy stood in a room with a few others, holding his hand up to speak their respective oaths. At 8:46am he completed his oath to serve his nation and maintain integrity first, service before self and excellence in all he does as, what seems so far, to be the only person to have done so on that day. I keep hoping to find at least one other somewhere but haven't yet. That boy exited the room to see two towers he knew well as part of a common skyline from his summers burning.
It's a solemn day to think back on for most, but for some it is a day of deep and long lasting results returning to the front of their minds. I got lucky. No one I knew living or working around there died. All of them were either late or had the day off. Among others I feel lucky about are a now retired NYPD cop and FDNY firefighter that were on site but managed to live through it all.
I hope folks will pardon me if I'm not all that active for the next few days. There's a lot on my mind. ^_^;
