Wait, what? Did I skip an important memo again?

I noted that for the second time they have mentioned possibly deleting old submission notices to keep the system cleaned up and running smoother. In a more recent  Fender journal I saw mention of this idea again and decided I'd better catch my submission notices back up.

"old submission notices"? As in old submissions? As in our early stuff is gonna disappear? O.o Why would Fender do such a thing? He's such a cute chap!

notices are posted to the user noticeboard- people you watched,when they create an item, you get a link to it there. that's a notification, but only a link- item resides in the person's gallery. problem though, is that people hoard the notices and it bogs down(I admit, I'm guilty of this too)- so as long as the wording is clearly "submission *notices*", the art it's self isn't going anywhere.

seems to be what they had problems with lately. deleting old submissions would at most free up a bit of space,which I'm sure they either have plenty of or can easily obtain more of. something about the way notices(and notes,by extension)work can be hard on the server after a lot has accumulated, probably related to checking whether it has been sent already, organizing and verifying records,making backups, etc would take longer than needed.even if each person only has a hundred or so old notifications they never read, it adds up quickly.
that's just what I know about web applications though, it could be deeper than that depending on how well-made the site is under the skin.

As long as it only affects submissions. I don't want it deleting my new watchers stuff, I use that almost like a speed dial to people's pages xD

Well if it did it would probably only threaten new watcher notices at least a year old. I'm not sure if they'll ever actually implement it though. Imagine how many people would be angry.

Well I guess you would be in trouble since you can't see most recent watches beyond a certain point on the main page. After that it's in alphabetical order!
