Help! I'm a Disney type character in a Williams Street world
11 years ago
General
I had a thought the other day. A simple thing: Take a character like me and give him to several studios to draw. It's easier to say studio because most folks don't know individual animators names, just the style of the studio's production.
Disney
Bluth (I know they don't exist anymore)
Spümcø (same thing)
DHX (MLP FiM's producer)
Hanna-Barbera (not around either)
Williams Street (aka Ghost Planet Industries)
Feel free to add your own style as well
Some I would want to have a cel made and want hanging in my living room. A couple I would probably want to hide under the rug. Not that any were badly drawn (with possibly one exception) but the styles would be so very different from one another that I would be uncomfortable with the results of some.
So, here's a thought the artists out there. Take a character, yours or someone else's and see how they would look like if they had a treatment by the places I've mentioned. A group picture would be interesting to see how they vary.

I'm more familiar with creators than I am with actual companies, but here's a list of people who I know off of the top of my head:
- Joe Murray, the creator of Rocko's Modern Life, Camp Lazlo, and Frog In A Suit. He has a FaceBook and a blog.
- Thurop Van Orman, the creator of The Marvelous Misadventures Of Flapjack. Works on Sanjay And Craig. He has a FaceBook, and is very friendly.
- C.H. Greenblatt, the creator of Chowder. Given the show's content, my guess is that he's well-versed in furry, but I could be wrong. He has a Tumblr.
- Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, the creators of Phineas And Ferb. Don't know how to get ahold of them, but, if I asked around, I could find out.
- United Plankton Productions, the production company for Spongebob Squarepants. Don't know how to get ahold of them.
- South Park Studios, the production company for South Park. Don't know how to get ahold of them, but, considering as it is the show's off season until the fall, it may be easier to get ahold of them now than in the fall.
