This same thing happened to me with my old PC about two years ago when 8.1 had just come out.. I know your pain. ;-;

8/8.1 is more horrible than Vista was, IMO. 7 for life.

I've still use my Windows 7-bearing laptop. Windows 8 is on my The Sims 4 computer, and that's mostly all I use it for. Besides DVDs, which my Windows 7 computer can't play 'cause its disc drive doesn't operate.

nah, it's ok, since this was posted my computer seems to have bricked itself and now runs like nothing ever happened. based on my research I have determined the issue was with windows 8.1 itself where code errors created system interrupts that would swallow anything up to 20% of CPU work capacity. it seems to have been since fixed buy updates though.
(I'm currently on a 2 year HND (higher national diploma) computing and systems development course at collage. can you tell? XD )

Hehe, I was gonna say a common cause of that was the HAL, but I guess it may not have been. ^^;

And I'm glad someone has seen my nice side for once; I kinda have several somewhat similar pseudo-personalities (i.e. they branch off of one, but aren't separate) of different extremes... >w< But you seem quite nice yourself. ;3
