DO NOT BUY XEODRIFTER [3DS]
XEODRIFTER is a downloadable title on the Nintendo 3ds, purchasable for 10 dollars.
STORY:
You play as Generic Space Suit Clad Man traveling in his not-a-rip-off-of-Samus' ship, when suddenly you're hit by something, causing you to crash land into nothing near 4 planets. You can at any time pick between these planets to go to and explore them freely, at least as freely as Metroidvanias can be in the beginning...
GAMEPLAY:
SUPER simplistic... B is jump, Y is shoot... so go do those two things to enemies and progress... You will find different powerups throughout the game, which will give you more health, gun upgrades, which can range from shot speed, power, spread and a few others I never cared about... all Shot Speed and Power please...
You can also get character upgrades, which let you phase through walls, jump into the background, and ROCKET! *Sonic Colors Announcer*... All of these character upgrades come from the bosses of the game, which are basically giant bugs... No really, bugs... that are giant...
THINGS I LIKE:
Let's focus on this first...because I have A LOT more to talk about in the next point...
I like the pixel style, the music fits the situation, and it has a good enough challenge... It doesn't throw the controls in your face, and really it just tells you the buttons for the powerups... it doesn't tell you where to use them, what they are used for or anything like that...so that's good... What good do I have to say specifically about the game...? ......uh...well...
Flying the ship around the planets before picking them was kinda fun...reminded me of Asteroids on Atari...without the asteroids...That's about it...
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE:
OH MY FREAKING GOD THE GAME IS 30 FRICKEN MINUTES... This is unacceptable! 10 dollars! FOR 30... FRICKEN... MINUTES! I could've bought AVGN Adventures for this price! I would've been more satisfied if I had gotten Lucas, or fucking Ryu in Smash than buy this game! [I already bought Roy, I have a lot of friends that use him...] There are plenty of better games on the eShop for this price and even less than this... How about Ikachan. Made from the creators of Cave Story, and it's yours for 5 dollars... AND IT FUCKING LASTED LONGER THAN THIS PIECE OF CRAP! Ikachan took me almost 4 HOURS the first time through, and yes, 30 minutes was my first playthrough of Xeodrifter.
The powerups for you character are okay... but I've seen them done better... Jumping to the background? Mutant Mudds... Running really fast? Metroid... Rocket? Sonic Colors... and you get the announcer...
The bosses are dull...super dull... they look inspired by a different giant bug, and between all 8 of them, all that happens is they get a new move... There are no other bosses...
In my 30 minutes of play, I also apparently managed to find 89% of the items in the game... There is also no difficulty setting, which means after you play and beat this, there's really no reason to play it again... "Oh, find all the items..." Why? All I have left are health and gun upgrades... I didn't die cause I had too little health, it's cause I had dumb moments... as for the gun upgrades... nothing other than Power and Shot Speed are helpful... so I don't care...
When you die in this game, it takes you back to the last checkpoint... The thing is, there are 2 kinds of checkpoints... your ship, and just before the boss... oh, and if you explored an area and you're near a boss door, but not where the checkpoint is, and you die? You have to do everything on that planet again... That is the only reason your playthrough might last any longer...
FINAL VERDICT:
No...Just no... As I said, there are MUCH better games for the same, and lower price... Do not buy this... I'm pretty sure Metroid Fusion on Wii U is 10 dollars, and if you don't have a Wii U and want a Metroidvania game... Then I'm sorry, you have Metroid NES and Metroid II Return of Samus.
I'm gonna say this game gets a 2 of 10... it's dull, uninteresting, and if you asked me to hum or sing one of the songs, I couldn't... The bosses are stupid, the dying is more tedious than Super Meat Boy, and IT'S TOO FUCKING SHORT... I was not expecting to get credits after collecting the warp drive crystal... I wouldn't even care if I crashed the exact same way in front of 4 more planets... at least the game would take more time...

Otherwise sounds bleh. You could buy a meal and be happier than what that game gives you. There are free mobile apps that give you more fun than that game, or DLC that price that at least if they last as long as this game, have something that carries over.
