Magic Panel at SDCC
Hello everyone and if you haven't heard yet the magic panel at San Diego Comic Con was.....actually kind of a let down.
The panel itself was enjoyable enough, but the hype wasn't created. There was very little information about the new set, and absolutely nothing about commander or any other side product. Here's what we know/learned:
1) Magic will now be more story oriented. There will be a central cast (the 5 planeswalkers in Origins - Liliana, Nissa, Jace, Chandra, and Gideon), loose story ends will be tied up, and the story will be more prevalent. Each set will contain 5 pivotal events that will take place on cards - events that are very important to the story and should be well known. The example given was that most people know that Elspeth killed Zenagos, but not very many know that Heliod kills Elspeth using her own weapon afterword. Both of these are pivotal events that will be made more clear.
2) Both Akroma, angel of Wrath and Fury were spoiled, albeit for 20 seconds so I am unable to say details as I do not remember.
3) Confirmed Zendikar creature types - Kor and allies.
Confirmed Zendikar characters - Ob Nixilis, Ugin, the five Origin walkers (minus Liliana), and Kiora, who still has Thassa's bident.
Most of the information in the panel was focused on art and story, and I was a little disappointed with the lack of information of new content. It was hinted at that landfall would make a comeback, but it was very unclear. Considering it is Zendikar, the creatures were nothing new, and the only real content we learned was that Ugin, Kiora, and Ob Nixilis will be making appearances which, frankly, wasn't really worth waiting for almost 2 hours and buying the ticket to get in the first place. Ah well!

OP
He might be! So little information was given that there's still a good posibility!

Tell me if this isnt a good idea...ahem...Planeswalker Civil Wars! Gideon vs Ajani, Garuuk vs Nissa, chandra vs Tibalt and so on. All the same color planeswalkers battling for dominance of that particular element or guild.

OP
Would be interesting, but personality wise it would only work for certain colors. I can see things like Chandra and Sarkhan, but not so much Ajani and Gideon.

Canonically speaking, Sorin will be in Battle for Zendikar, most likely with Ugin in tow and possibly a new Planeswalker (the Lithomancer who originally created the Eye of Ugin in the story).

Or he will most likely be in the set, at least.

They all have their charms, but Sorin is the only one ill double take at. Older than all beside Nicol Bolas of course. Personally, I think he'd win the pissing match with any of the others.

Sorin is my favorite as well. I really wish he would have been included in the Origins set. I mean he did start off as a black. But my top favorite(right now)is Ugin.

i personally prefer Vraska, the unseen.
