Shall we embark on an expedition?
Hello again ladies and gentlefurs!
It is time for a change of scenery as we shift planes yet again. With today comes a full release of Battle for Zendikar spoilers! Our colorless eldrazi friends (fiends?) have returned in greater numbers and with a new mechanic, Allies are back in their sliver-esque ways, and land is once again a large factor. Some old faces have reappeared, but only time will tell what the future brings.
I'm personally very excited for the colorless theme that comes with this block. I'm planning on having a lot of fun between ramping out giant eldrazis, doing colorless control, or just punching people in the face with lands. What are you looking for?

we're going casual babe XD
that sharman of the pack after a good few summons. sheesh!
Also they're finally printing the enemy half of an existing land cycle while at the same time introducing a new cycle that also very much needs to be completed. x_x
I'm also seeing cards being printed that I want to exist in a cleaner state. 1/4 unblockable for 2U. 1/4 for 1R. */5 for 2R.
Either way, am very happy to have the blue 2/1 with 5: unblockable and the new red 2/3 invoker. A lot of nice new commons that I'm happy to have in existence as well.
I mean, Wizards did give me an excuse to run twelve somewhat competitive phoenixes in Standard for at least the first few weeks, so that's a thing.
That is all.
I'm also excited for the Expedition Lands! Think of the value of those
It seems that BFZ is hinting at cards that will be able to fetch stuff from exile, and well they do in a way, I.e. the processors. I'm looking forward to all the edh shenanigans that will be brought forth from this lol.
Also, expedition lands are printed money and make me wanna cry from all the organs I'm selling to pay for this block x.x
I am a really big fan of the exile mechanic and while I'm pretty sure it won't be too prevalent, it will be fun to play with.
Good luck with those lands. Hopefully your luck is better than mine >.>
That said, I am a little disappointed in how WotC is handling the Expeditions, but its more from a standpoint on their management of MtG as a whole rather then my wanting them. (I mean, sure, I definitely want them, but I feel like it's not the best move business-wise to make them that difficult to obtain)
And I mean, WotC doesn't even really directly profit from the secondary market- the benefit for them is that the circulation means more people will continue to play and they'll make sales on new product as a result, but making the Expeditions a little less rare- maybe the same rarity as a foil regular rare- doesn't hurt them much financially but still keeps the interest. I just have a hard time agreeing with cards that seem like they've been directly engineered to be worth 200-300.
As I said, I like the idea, just not the execution. Especially since most long-term Magic players at this point don't really have as much disposable income (unless they sell cards or have been playing so long that their childhood cards now are super expensive). Either way, just gotta wait and see how things go.
