Feedback Requested! Craft Swap Idea
Greetings Fellow Guild Members,
krystal_aristokats here with an idea that I need my fellow guild members feedback on:
One of our guild members suggested a monthly "Craft Swap". Essentially, an individual volunteers his/her time and talent to make a gift for something else in the guild. Individuals can be matched up randomly from a pool of participants or this can be done 1-on-1. All prizes should be completed and sent to the recipients within a month of being matched up. I am gauging interest if anyone would be interested in helping develop the basic rules and guidelines for the swap? Would anyone be interested in learning more about the swap or participating in the craft swap?

I think its a good idea but I worry that some might feel their gift is better quality/costly than what they receive. I would be up for doing it though

Agreed about gift quality/value its the thought behind it thou right? I cherish every little moment/item. I got a rock as gift from a child I proudly display next to my diploma. Somehow limit the value like say "potluck" or "work christmas party".

Awww that is a sweet story about the rock. Crafts and arts should be cherished and appreciated for the time and effort put into making it. Actually the original comment that I received was more along the lines of something for an annual Christmas or holiday gift exchange but there is no need to limit it to only an annual holiday event.

This actually is a minor issue in the traditional and digital art community. Offering an equal value in time or material cost would seam like a reasonable basic guideline to me.

I was just thinking. Valued brackets, have guildsmen/women submit estimated value of item (maybe photo to), stick with others of same value then pair from there?

This would be one of my basic ideas of making something that is equal value in time and materials. I could arrange this based upon submissions in general which would create the largest pool. It could be run like a master bulliton board that is maintained for communication and only edited when swaps are done. Or if there are multiple participants, categorize trades it up to a certain monitory value.

You could simply organize by value regardless of the poster. Like I could list 4 items of three price points and someone could offer something they have listed in the same price point. Like $10or less, $11-$25, $26-$50 etc
