I've been on second life for 9 years and 7 months....and it's true, it is a fantastic place to meet furry friends.

...Or used to be. Now it has been taken over by the next generation if 18 year olds who are honestly anything but fun to hang around. Everyone are either drama queens, attention whores, or both. It's gotten so incredibly bad that 2 months ago I called it quits for good on Second life after almost 10 years of being on there regularly.

My Daddy Tiger would say the same thing. I didn't participate in SL much myself but I remember when it was the go-to place for furs to hangout.

What rubbish.

Furry communities on Second Life are elitist and can't stand the idea of newcomers in their midst. What's more is they continually accuse people who aren't popular and accepted in their communities of "drama" as a means to ostracize them and force them to give up and leave.

Don't bother.

As much as I think this was a bit too strongly worded, it is, despite the vocabular spines, still rather true.

Second Life really is a cesspool that attracts all of the WRONG people from the furry community.

Really, if you aim to find 'furries in your area' ? I'd suggest using a furry dating website and set your profile as 'looking for: Friends', or stay on FA, and join the groups that represent your local area(s), and follow them/keep up with their journals for upcoming events etc.!

But Second Life? Second Life really is thee WORST place on the internet you can 'meet furries in your area'

I met most furry friends I have at the Prancing Skiltaire in Garden Grove. Its a Furry themed house party.
Sadly though, it has not been as amazing as it used to be. A lot of my friends have moved or stopped going, the local In N' Out banned us, and the people whom were the energy of the party are MIA. I go once in a blue moon now.

A fairly new event called the La Habra Fur Bowl also happens. Met some interesting folks there too.

That's really sad to hear. I haven't been to The PS in a very long time. I always had visions of becoming more involved once some of my adult obligations had been dispatched. But sadly, RL has always seemed to force me to work weekend nights so I haven't been able to go. Another great regret in my life.

Why do I always hear so much about Second Life from other furs :/ ...
