SECONDLIFE! Is the best place to meet up with furs in your area or just meet furs in general. If you want to make friends and chat on mic you can really get the best connection on SL.
If you wish to hang out or just listen in come on down to Husky Isle. (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondli.....0Isle/91/81/30 )
I figure this is best answer to many peoples question about how to meet other furs or meeting furs in your area.

...Or used to be. Now it has been taken over by the next generation if 18 year olds who are honestly anything but fun to hang around. Everyone are either drama queens, attention whores, or both. It's gotten so incredibly bad that 2 months ago I called it quits for good on Second life after almost 10 years of being on there regularly.
Furry communities on Second Life are elitist and can't stand the idea of newcomers in their midst. What's more is they continually accuse people who aren't popular and accepted in their communities of "drama" as a means to ostracize them and force them to give up and leave.
Don't bother.
Second Life really is a cesspool that attracts all of the WRONG people from the furry community.
Really, if you aim to find 'furries in your area' ? I'd suggest using a furry dating website and set your profile as 'looking for: Friends', or stay on FA, and join the groups that represent your local area(s), and follow them/keep up with their journals for upcoming events etc.!
But Second Life? Second Life really is thee WORST place on the internet you can 'meet furries in your area'
Sadly though, it has not been as amazing as it used to be. A lot of my friends have moved or stopped going, the local In N' Out banned us, and the people whom were the energy of the party are MIA. I go once in a blue moon now.
A fairly new event called the La Habra Fur Bowl also happens. Met some interesting folks there too.
