As captain of a boat, I could arrange a marri-age
10 years ago
Yup, I'm still alive. So, let's see; since my last post here, most importantly... I married the person I knew three years ago I wanted to spend my life with,
flenhah. We wanted to keep it low-key and simple, so the "ceremony" was having the license notorized by a UPS store. Heh. But we went to the beach that evening and vagined our rings in the Atlantic. Parents will probably want to do something more dramatic and traditional, but that can always be done in the future.
I also took a new job assignment (still with the same company) for a new client. I oversee security for 4 sites for an animal pharmaceutical company at a greatly increased pay rate and increased stress level; but not nearly the stress levels of my last LEO job. And if I do a good enough job I could be asked to join the client company's corporate security team , a huge step up.
The third big thing is moving to a new place, still in Athens. I've been living in this house for 3years now, and the landlord is a good guy, but... It's tiny, was poorly built in the '50s, has bad plumbing and electrical, and old appliances. Flenhah and I found a 3br/2ba ranch with a full basement (and bonus room) and are signing the lease tomorrow. It is also an older house, built in '68, but in good condition with new appliances and real plumbing. We can actually have a kitchen table, dishwasher (you have no idea how nice one is until you have to hand wash for years), guest bedroom, cub room, office, and workshop with room for a train set and matchbox cars track and all my tools. Of course, that means packing all my and Flen's stuff and moving it, which is always a PITA. We hope to be completely in by next weekend, and then... Maybe a end of summer cookout? Now that we have room for it.
