Some Interesting Anthropomorphic Car Articles
9 years ago
Just did a search on the subject tonight for shits and giggles, thought I'd share some interesting ones I found. :)
-This is pretty interesting, a test was done to see how people would treat a car that had a name/gender/voice compared to a car that didn't. Sounds like the more personable cars become the better they'll start to be treated. To me, I think when cars start to drive themselves and that becomes the norm, that'll already lead a lot of people to start to psychologically see their cars as more humanlike and thus treat them better.

-Nothing new really said here, but it's an interesting view into the mind of someone who's not OS and what they think about car faces. I disagree with the author on almost everything, mostly his negative opinion of the topic. I also disagree on how he feels about the Mazda3. If I were in a bad mood and had a smiling Mazda3, I'd probably be cheered up a little rather then annoyed, it's like having a chipper little buddy that says "aw it's okay, it's a happy day!"

WHO THE HECK IS TRYING TO STEAL MY JOB!?!! >:U
lol joking aside these are very interesting articles and I can't help but feel a little bad for the third eye having Tucker Sedan! I mean it is kinda weird looking but I think it is so in an endearing sort of way! I love the body styling and if you imagined the center light as a nose it almost has this Rudolf vibe to it! lol oh well, what could have been am I right? XD I guess it will always be like the weird cousin who claims to be a psychic or fortune teller of the car world! XD lol "look, look into tucker's third eye and see the future!" And on the topic of Headlights being eyes I think that might be why I like older cars so much, they have those big round soulful puppy dog eyes that make them looks so sympathetic. Like when you see stacks of old cars in junkyards or an old car buried under junk and you see those big shimmering headlights still peeking out at you it makes you feel terrible for them on some level OS or not. Thanks for the interesting read buddy!
Lol now that you said that, if I had one of those Tuckers, I'd totally wrap the middle headlight in red plastic wrap in the winter and make it a red nose. XD
I know what you mean, there's something special about those old sealed beam headlights, heck they even project those adorable grey'ish ghostly pupils inside of them from the right angle, still not sure why that happens but it reminds me of the fake pupil mantises have. http://l.rgbimg.com/cache1qcizg/use.....00/mWyntCU.jpg
Yeah, BLT really captured that look didn't they, of those big round white eyes just kinda having that blank thousand-yard stare.. it's very haunting.
lol that would be adorable! Sniffles the red nosed Tucker! We now have a Christmas Icon!!
I KNOW! I've always noticed that too and thought it was weird when I was younger, because once you know where it it no matter where you're standing it always seems to follow you! lol and if you're the kind of kid who strongly believes in magic and grew up with BLT, Toy Story, Herby, Christine, ect it's really really cool to experience!!
And yes they did! Especially the ones in the piles just sitting their blinking in that far off horrified way. lol that whole scene was nothing but haunting nightmare fuel, and since it's arguably one of the best songs in the movie it tends to stick with you! lol that's why I reacted as big as I did when I figured out that Pinky wasn't some oc of yours and what was going to happen!
You're welcome. ; 3
It is pretty weird, there's probably a scientific explanation but honestly I don't want it. x.x Who's eyes do you remember from your childhood?
Yeah I know those ones, there was a guy on DA who was specifically hit by that one shot and redrew it.
Appreciated man ^w^
lol yeah same here! I don't need to know science behind it or have someone try to explain it to me, it's there and it makes me smile so that's all I need! lol and oh man XD taxing my brain are you? Let me think of a few of the ones I remember the most clearly. There's Cindy, my Cindy that I remember because I'd used to sit out in the car port and talk to her and look at her. Then there's this one Pick up Truck... a lot of the details for this one are very hazy... but I remember my dad was driving us to some sort of office and the whole family was there. He went in alone to this small wide one floor building and beside us was this pick up truck or tow truck and I remember from the back seat I could just see the front of it and it looked like it was looking over to me. I commented to my mom about it and I was at that age where that was considered cute and she'd play along, and then this big biker Santa Claus lookin dude comes out, gets in, and drives off and I was just mind blown at the idea that I had possibly just met a friendly truck AND Santa. lol it's those little moments that shape a childhood.
Is that the guy who animated it so they were blinking? Like a Day at Ernie's or something along those lines?
