"Pokemon Days" Series: Happy Leafeon Day (and a bit extra)
General
In keeping with my Days Series, we have another Eeveelution coming up. Leafeon is next up today. However, I honestly have no idea how they came up with this date, but fortunately the tag has its own "dictionary entry" on Pixiv. Google Translate continues to be its unreliable self, but it seemed to be talking about some sort of artbook with Leafeon on the 169th page, with 6/18 being the 169th day of the year... well, the 170th this time because leap year, but yeah, kind of an unusual reason but whatever works I guess. If anyone can do a better job than Google, I have a link towards the end.
If I had managed to get my schedule back on track, I definitely would have had something of my own for today. But you deserve a bit of something while I keep sitting around typing up journals instead of stories, so I've got a little preview for you of a future story starring my Leafeon character.
---
Leafeon: Run, hide, Eevee. Your powers aren't yet developed enough to handle this one.
Hesitantly following her orders, the Eevee took off into the distance behind the nearest tree. Still wanting to help however he can, he kept an eye on the Leafeon and her adversary.
Leafeon: As for you, Serperior...
From her bag, she took out a single leaf. Then her head-leaf began to glow as she channeled her power into it. The leaf she held started glowing likewise, and in a flash it extended into a saber-shape. She pointed her Leaf Blade at the snake...
Leafeon: Welcome to Etamit.
The Serperior was allowed the first move, and he surrounded himself with a thick swirl of leaves. Gathering power into such an intense move, he launched the Leaf Storm directly at the unmoving Leafeon. Unmoving until just before the strike connected, when the Leafeon swiftly cut each leaf headed her way with her sword.
Such a powerful attack left the Serperior momentarily exhausted, yet at the same time he seemed to be getting more powerful. Most Pokemon would be left in a weakened state from using something like that. The Leafeon seemed all too aware of this.
Leafeon: Hmm... you're only going to get stronger with each use of that, thanks to your kind's perverse personality.
To counter the Serperior's Contrary ability, she took advantage of the lapse in the action and powered herself up. Closing her eyes as if entering a trance, she focused once more on her leaf. Both the Leafeon and her sword shone again, and she leapt into the air and performed several rhythmic slashes. The rest of the energy manifested itself in sword-shaped lights as the Leafeon gently landed on the ground, her Swords Dance successfully finished.
...To be continued.
---
Not sure how much of that I'll keep, but it's certainly not finished. For one, I'm withholding their names for now, so I'll have to fill in those blanks. I'm actually pleased with this for now. The full story is set to be two, possibly three stories later from what I have now.
As for this year's Pixiv content, well, it doesn't get nearly as much as Vulpix did a few weeks ago. Within the line, only Eevee comes close in quantity. The Eeveelutions' Days get varying amounts each year. For instance, Leafeon gets a bit more than Flareon and Vaporeon but less than Jolteon and Glaceon, putting Leafeon in the lower-middle for the evolved forms. I also understand that around here, Leafeon is a common pick for "least favorite Eeveelution," but not me. Heck, I usually default to them as my most fave. It's my hope that my Leafeon character comes across as badass, just like how I see them. I won't say who's my least fave (at the moment), but I will say that they're still in my top 20 overall.

As usual, the Pixiv Tag links. First link is Leafeon, second is Leafeon Day. The third link is the dictionary/wiki entry for the Leafeon Day tag if anyone can understand Japanese better than Google or I can.
For those using the first link to get a few extra images, the guidelines I use to consider an image done for Leafeon/insert-Pokemon Day is to see if the phrase "リーフィアの日" (or equivalent) appears in either the title, description, tags, or on the image itself.

Mostly here for the crossover appeal. From what I've seen elsewhere online, IWBTG seems to say the least quite popular in Japan considering the high number of fangames (of varying quality) from that region. Though a high number of those really like using Hatsune Miku as a "boss" with a music-synced rhythm element that you win by just surviving, but that's beside the point.

This time around the last image uploaded so far is my fave, the most beautiful. The fact that Leafeon in the sunflower fields reminds me a bit of Touhou's Yuuka Kazami certainly adds to the appeal.

I'm pointing out the artist more here. This one's certainly decently cute, but you remember the macro Vulpix pic from last journal? This isn't by the same artist, but...

this, however, is something he did 2 years back. I believe I also alluded to this in my last journal as well. Because really, the Eeveelutions are all awesome whether macro or micro.
Finally, I know some of you are interested in the days of all Pokemon, the Pokemon Calendar if you will. Sadly, not every Pokemon has one, and some of the ones that "do" get less than 5 a year (like Vaporeon :< ), if they even managed to make it a yearly thing at all. The easiest way to see if Pixiv has a Day for a Pokemon (or once tried to) is to add "の日" to the end of their Japanese name and search for that tag. Incidentally, there are a few non-Pixiv Pokemon Days I've seen right here on FA, notably Lugia and Charizard... neither of whom I particularly care for. Either way, I'll finish this with an admittedly outdated reference of the Days I've used (Fennekin for instance is missing), as well as post the Eeveelution Days right here.

coshidragonite for making this a few years back. It's missing a few newer days but it's still the most complete list so far until I compile my own.
Flareon: 1/10
Umbreon: 2/7
Eeveelutions: 2/10 (?)
Sylveon: 2/21 (What amazes me is that they came up with this one within a month of Sylveon's reveal)
Jolteon: 3/12 (one of the more popular ones, probably due to being just a few days after Zangoose's)
Leafeon: 6/18
Espeon: 8/21
Glaceon: 9/1 (I recall this one getting a lot as well)
Eevee: 11/21
Vaporeon: 12/3 (another one whose date I'm unsure of why it was picked, and easily the least popular of the Days, but as long as it gets even one image a year it counts to me)
With that, it'll be a while until the next Eeveelution. Mew and Jirachi are the ones I know of for next month (7/5 and 7/7 respectively IIRC), but I'm just pointing them out since I know they're fairly popular here. Instead, I'll see you in August with this sereis.
