SO last night I was on my computer, doin' my own thing, when I thought about picking up making music again. Since I got this new computer a few weeks ago, I had to reinstall the program that I already had (I used Ableton btw). I went to a site that I thought was their actual site, but was a cheap doppelgänger of the real one. I didn't download anything, until I realized my computer was flooded with "antivirus" software popups. It immediately shut off and as I tried to turn it back on, I was blocked from accessing my desktop by some ransomware scam. I freaked out and called one of my friends to help solve the problem. He said to do a system reset and it would all be fixed. Two hours later, it boots up and there are no viruses detected anywhere. The only good thing to come from this is that it only deleted everything in my OS drive, so my D drive of games was not touched at all. I installed all the programs missing, which only were really Skype, Discord, Telegram, and a few other things. I had a pretty good sleep after that nightmare, which was good too.

So now I know where to ACTUALLY get the program. I'm starting to install that and everything is going well. Well...almost. There are no viruses involved (thank god) but involves my google drive.
For the past 2 years, I've backed up every song file that I've had and worked on into one big folder. As this is downloading, I check it to find the folder.

It ain't there. All my incomplete songs are gone. It's even worse because I rarely complete songs, almost to the point where they are almost done (there are about 50 songs incomplete). I had all these songs and Ableton on my school computer, which should have automatic backups, and I made sure of it too before I turned it in for the summer. I guess something messed up when they wiped it and unfortunately wiped that huge folder,

Now I really have nothing to work on. I'm still happy that I'm actually able to use my computer (lol) but I guess I can always start fresh again. Most of the 8bit sounds I made were completely custom, so I really wanted to extract those sounds from the previous song files. A major setback in whatever I wanted to do, but it shouldn't be that hard to get back on track. I'll find something soon

TL;DR
-Went on a site to redownload a music production program
-Got many viruses and ransomeware to the point where I couldn't login

-Google Drive does not contain the backups of my 50 incomplete song files
-I got nothin to work on


This was just a little rant because I have nothing else to...I'm hoping y'all can relate somehow x3
