A http/socks proxy or VPN could of helped get access back. :3

We really thought FA was just down again, for everyone. All it took was for my roomie to disable that extension and boom, FA was up again in minutes.

There was no need. As soon as I disabled the plugin we had access again. It was just the throttling that returned errors because it got too many requests from us, it didn't actually ban our IP - the scale of the DoS wasn't large enough for that. :P

Judging by the journal title, I wanted to tell you to stop spamming the F5 key, but apparently that really was the issue :D

I've tried those plugins and they were quite unreliable for me so I ended working on my own program to show me notifications. Now I'm glad I made that decision because if something does go wrong, I can find out quickly and fix it myself instead of having to rely on someone else to update a plugin.

I just started on it though so the only feature it has for now is a popup notification that tells me when I get a new message of a certain type.

I got on touch with the creator as soon as I realized what is happening, and we figured it soon enough. Some unknown error caused the setting value for refresh rate to get erased, which on its own might have not been that big of an issue, but Firefox changed something on their side that broke the plugin's ability to set that value. So I had to reset it in about:config, since that it works all fine again.

Anyway, it's good to have alternatives! Good luck with your plugin! :)

i've had no internet for a couple of days. it doesn't seem entirely stable at the moment either.
it happens every once in a while where i live. usually around this time of the month.

i'm guessing someone trips over the power plug on the wifi router in the office, and it takes a couple of days for anyone who knows anything about it to find out and decide to push the reset.
